Surgery Wednesday the 8th

Recommended Posts

Am having my sleeve to bypass surgery on Wednesday. No preop diet. I am very nervous. Is the surgery as scary as we convince ourselves it is? I was originally scheduled for Dec 18th. My husband came down with bronchitis and rescheduled. So, of course I keep thinking that I could be over the surgery if I would have stuck with the original date. Any reassurance here?

I'm going in on Thursday the 9th, and having ask kinds of thoughts in my head. But it's technically the 8th in theUS as I live in Sweden ;-)

You can do this! And so can I! It's not a light choice or a whim, it's for a healthier, happy body, to be around for my husband, kids and grandkids but also to participate in life fully. Be a better physical version of me with no excuses for not taking this chance to lessen my weight burden four good.

It's going to have its ups and downs, good, bad and sometimes ugly, however the end result will be worth it :-D

Don't know if this was what you were asking but I thought I'd give us both a peptalking to ;-) We got this!

Slim Lola, yes, a pep talk is exactly what I need. I was very excited to get my sleeve, so didn't really get nervous. This time it isn't for weight loss (I weigh 135lbs), but for bile reflux. So, the 'prize' at the end is not quite as exciting. Thank you for the pep talk! I would love to read journals of the day of surgery. I know the bypass is different than the sleeve surgery.

I hope the bypass will resolve your bile reflux issue. Definitely a difference mainly with sugar and Vitamin maintenance. I'm sure you will do great ;-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
