I am 8 days post-op and am feeling pretty good! That is until today... I woke up mad! And I don't mean just a little mad, I mean uncontrollable mad. The biggest thing is I don't even know why. I feel like I'm just going to blow up at anyone that talks to me. Anyone else have this happen to them.

Oh yes! get ready soon it will be followed by the weepies. Emotional lability is a hallmark of the recovery for some reason. Anger, happiness, bitterness, sadness...all make their appearance on the stage.

Tell your loved ones to take cover, recognize this is temporary and watch carefully what you say to folks to minimize the "damage".

I think a lot has to do with just physical recovery. Exhaustion makes one cranky as does pain. Additionally, when your body releases fat, estrogen stored in it floods your system. And then add to it that perhaps your fav way of comforting yourself just went away too and we're just totally off kilter.

The good news? You're just like everyone else! Which means, you too will lose weight just like everyone else! See, always a silver lining. :)

Add me to the "mad at the world" crowd! I was pissed at the world for the 1st week post-op. I was ready to fight anyone. The feeling went away at the end of the week. :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
