I have a little cooler bag I bought at Academy...it has a styrofoam liner and canvas like on the outside...anyway it's lightweight and easy to carry.. If I know I can't stop and eat or will be somewhere where I can't get Wendy's chili or Chic Filet chicken tortilla Soup..(these are my fast food choices), I pack a few Protein bars (Quest), hard boiled egg, some tuna in the pouch, sometimes I pack yogurt (greek) a few veggies, carrotts, celery etc. or some wheat thins and cheese wedges.. in a real pinch pack a Protein shake.. muscle milk is good, GNC has Lean shakes that are good too.....I hope I helped you.

i always have a Protein bar with me and a Protein Drink. but if i had to be eating lunch away from the house i would have hard boiled egg salad ready. a big bowl of salad to put in a smaller container. cottage cheese on the salad. i make my own vingarette, to control the olive oil in it. i don't have trouble with bread. i use sara lee 45 cal bread. 2 slices for a sandwich. cup of Soup. cup of chili,

I seldom use on the go foods, but when I know I can't stop to eat, I carry a smoothie that I have made to sip on. The other people have given you good choices, tho'. I, also, like to have apple slices and Peanut Butter dip. Karen..aka.kll724

Your idea to cook ahead should help your pocketbook as well as your waistline. Do you like chili? You can cook then eat for days. The basic concept can be turned into so many different kinds. Turkey and black bean chili, White Chili with chicken and white Beans, etc. Same with stew -- hearty vegetables and some kind of Protein. Get a few small thermos containers so you can carry food with you, something yummy and nourishing.

If you're out and about there is so much that can be purchased at a grocery store these days. Soups, salad bar has eggs and tuna, a Greek yogurt, etc. Maybe you want to keep a few Protein Bars in your glove compartment or book bag. Good luck with everything -- you are doing so well!

Thank you all so much! My schedule has normally allowed time to go home and make a meal, and the few times it did not I had Protein bars, but I didn't want to be using those for meals all the time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
