Do you work for your weight loss or do the pounds just fall off?

Recommended Posts

Was definitely one of those people that hoped the sleeve would be a magic bullet and the weight would fall of without having to do anything but I've found I do best when I follow my food plan and work out 3-4x a week.

Yet people have so many different stories, some folk just eat less of what they used to, some stick to the eating clean, some eat clean and workout. I'm curious what's been working for you? How easy has it been to drop the weight?

I WORK for it!! Total change of lifestyle and I LOVE it!!!

I weigh or measure all my food, I make good food choices, and I workout.

I have a couple friends who had wls, and we were all at the same starting point. One exercises but eats as she did before but smaller portions. The other follows the plan as far as eating but hasn't exercised. They are both struggling around the 200lb wt mark while I now weigh 147. I'm not saying everyone would get those results, but it surely works for me. :)

I feel the first 6 months or so the weight just fell off. I followed my eating program and exercised regularly and I couldn't believe it every time I got on the scale how quickly the pounds came off. I like everyone else have been on other weight lost programs and have lost weight but never this fast. The next 3/4 months weight loss has slowed down. Now I have to exercise even harder for less and less weight loss. But it is ok with me because I am happy with the way I look now and am thrilled with each new pound lost.

I know there are arguments about whether or not we are doing this "ourselves" well of course we are. However having this extra tool in our tool belt is definitely an advantage over everyone else or we wouldn't have done it in the first place.

I believe in working out! I am 3 weeks out and I am working out to loose and to not have a flabby body. I want to have as little flabby skin as possible.

100% truth..I was sleeved 10/21. I have lost 30 lbs since then. From everyone's posts I have read, plus my NUTs opinion, that is a modest amount. I have not exercised to speak of and I have struggled with eating. (around the holidays) I do believe had I ate to plan and did more moving I would have lost more weight by now. So....going forward (2014 resolution of sorts) I am getting back to eating clean and incorporating more exercise into my life. I still have a few months left of the "honeymoon" period and I really want to take advantage of them!!!

Certainly not falling off. Working my a$$ off and logging everything... I have been in a 3 pound swing for a few weeks. Got to onderland on New Years and now back up to 292. Getting very frustrated with stall and bouncing around.

I am only a month and a half out, but I will say that the first solid month I lost 40 pounds. Just dropped with no work...nothing. Just poof. But now I have noticed that the loss has slowed down unless I workout. I started working out and not only has my weight loss started back up, but I also feel better and have more energy!

For me it's not "falling off" - I take that back, it did fall off the first week maybe two weeks.

Since then, I have worked my butt off - I have made exercising a priority in my day, something I neglected to do in the past. I logged 106 miles in November and December (I was sleeved on 11/14) and my goal for January is 85 miles.

Is the weight coming off easier than before surgery, absolutely.

I really don't know...I rarely weigh myself and never seem to worry about numbers...So maybe I am working hard at it..I do know that I plan to step up exercising and hire a trainer in the spring to rebuild my muscles....But I just don't know..I mostly look at how my clothes fit....the scale scares me!!!!!!!

Pounds no more "fall off" than a baby "pops out". That's my two cents. ;)

The first two weeks, the pounds fell off. Every pound after that has been hard won. The last couple of weeks have been ounces - if I'm lucky. No magic bullet here.....sadly.

Roo I am right there with you. 10/21 was my date. Lost 28 lbs. getting my Protein and most day liquids. Holidays I was not as committed as I should have been. But honestly I feel good. And it came on slowly and will come off slowly. But I am happy.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
