Hi everyone, I made it! Still pretty tired and weak from the anesthesia, but the pain isn't too bad. Got a lot of discomfort in my back/chest from the gas. But other than that doing pretty well. Been sleeping most of the afternoon. Hoping tomorrow is a better day but just super happy it's over with!

Glad to hear you made it! We knew you would :) Keep walking and resting. You'll be back to normal in no time.

Thanks :). Last night was kinda rough, I kept waking up extremely nauseous even though I have the anti-nausea patch behind my ear AND the nurse gave me extra nausea meds through my IV. It was extremely hard to keep from throwing up, but I managed. I did do a bug dry heave though, which felt terrible on my insides. Today is better, I'm glad I'm getting off the morphene, that stuff made me too drowsy. Still sore as hell though obviously :(

I had the patch, phenergan, zofran and finally Benadryl... And was still dry heaving. Hang in there. It really does get better. I felt like I was ripping in two when I was dry heaving so I feel your pain.

Wow that sounds awful. I finally figured out that it was the morphine drip that was making me queasy, because ever since they switched me over to liquid Vicodin the nausea has gone away (not to mention it works a lot better, go figure.)

Sooo hoping to go home this evening. I don't think I can stand another night here, there's all sorts of sick people in this ward as well and most of them are isolated right next door to me! That's the last thing I need.

My new sleeve pretty much doesn't like anything flavored :(. Even the flavored liquid medicine I have to take just makes it churn. I sure hope this gets easier... :/

That sucks! You're still really new though. Give it time. I am over 3 weeks out and my stomach rejects anything sweet. I am not eating sweets, but when my blood sugar goes low I usually take glucose tablets or gel. I also do fruit juice if I have it. All of them make me nauseas. I get so incredibly sick for hours. It's been hell. I dread low sugars like never before.

Did I learn what sliming is. I was on the phone while eating dinner and didn't pay attention to how much I was eating. Suddenly I knew I ate too much. I was so uncomfortable and went into the bathroom and this slime came up on me. Then I threw up a little 2x and felt better but also said to myself, self you learned your lesson this time to PAY ATTENTION to what and how much you are eating. Goes to show your never too old to learn what NOT to do. Just my 2 cents for this evening. Hope everyone is doing well.

It's very bittersweet. I'm glad that this has helped me kick my sweet tooth already but at the same time I am realizing exactly how much stuff out there is just made sweet.

I have absolutely no desire to have candy of any kind. chocolate, fruity, none of it. All the stuff you eat before and after surgery are so sweet, that I got over it real quick. I want savory and salty now! Hah.

Hi. I'm getting sleeved on April 8th. I'm excited but worried I will still have strong chocolate cravings after. Any advice?

I thought I was over mine until I smelled brownies cooking. It was hell.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
