tonya66 13 Posted March 20, 2007 I did the same thing, although I think we should all be informed, and it is a serious surgery, so you should know the complications, but you should also seek out and find the success stories too. I went thru the lap band journals and read, I also looked at all the before/after photos. I went thru the same thing, and let me tell you, I'm glad I had my surgery. I'm down 50 pounds! I had my surgery 1/18/07 - just 2 months ago.

Wheetsin 714 Posted March 20, 2007 Complications from surgery and the band are very low. There are several medical publications that can give you numbers on lap-band complication rates. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=PubMed is one example. Query "lapband complication rates" or similar terms.
travelgirl 3 Posted March 20, 2007 LOL, you'll be ok. Try reading some of the threads asking "would you do it again" or look at some of the polls with that title....Most everyone (with a few exceptions) would do it again in a heartbeat. Keep in mind that most people that post are looking for support here. Most people don't come on here and post "gee whiz, I'm having such a great day, no incidents to speak of as far as my band is concerned...." That's why you see such a seemingly large number of complications and problems vs. success stories here.
juliegeraci 7 Posted March 20, 2007 Its natural to be scared. I cried before my surgery. YOu will do fine. Just don't read too much into the negative threads.
sewingloss 0 Posted March 20, 2007 Don't worry. It will work for you. We are lucky to have the chance to change our life and appearances. You are lucky that you found this site before surgery. I did not and even though I read and read, went to seminars, and went to two different doctors, I was still out there by myself until I found this support group. Helped make a change in me. Good Luck!:clap2: OK..SO IM READING THROUGH THE COMPLICATIONS THREADS AND HAVE TOTALLY SCARED MYSELF. IM GOING ON MARCH 30TH TO GET MY SURGERY DATE AND NOW IM SOOO SCARED. Iluvharleys 15 Posted March 20, 2007 Just remember some folks just come here for help and so you will read more about complications than good stuff at times. Just remember there are many many more that don't come here at all that are doing just great!
