I have no date anytime soon for surgery, but I cant wait I have 3lbs left to lose then on the 23rd I have to see my nut and psych and ill get the info for the post op, hope I get a date on that day. Im so nervous, that's why I feel I should start packing now and buy everything I need for post-op.

what do you all think.

im afraid ill forget something to eat or pack in my bag.

im suppose to be doing two to three shake a day, 3 Snacks Protein, veggies and a small meal, I have don't two shakes and do fine in the am but later on the day, I end up eating what should not eat. I know I have to follow the pre-op just like my nut says

I have my meds but my pharmacist didn't have chewable he said he hasn't heard of them being chewable. and my insurance pd for all of them but not for the B12.

ima call my insurance and see if they pay for the shot.

ok, now to know if I should get ready now.

what you all think

I packed and unpacked for one month lol. Got liquid gold Vitamin from a compound pharmacy. Packed and bought for me and my husband 2 weeks apart. Time seems to go slow but it will be here so fast! You can order Vitamins, Protein bars and shakes online to your front door. I bought Bariatric Advantage Protein powder at the doctors and EAS Protein Powder (and EAS Protein drinks) at Walmart. We were told not to buy any that had "blend" under the ingredients. There was a lot of label reading which takes time. Bariatric Advantage has chewable vitamins which are chalky so my husband got those.

Some pills are crushable so we bought that. Also a pill cutter my husband uses. Everyone has different issues so lots of variables here. Best of luck!

You might save the shake and broths for evening when you are so hungry, and do not forget the SF popsicles for snacking.

You won't need much in the hospital. A robe to walk in for sure over that sexy gown. I took a book but was sleeping and resting mostly, then walking.

I started cleaning my house, paying bills, stocking up on non perishables, got a cute robe for the hospital, drug down my too small clothes, bought some books and recoded some movies. Basically, I did everything ahead that was possible. Buy cards and presents for events coming up in the next three months. Get your hair cut and any other regular appts.

I bought a cheap monthly calendar and wrote dr. visits, appointments, recorded my weight and my husbands weight weekly, and noted the pre-op dates for certain food changes then post op dates for all the same. It kept me straight, especially the two of us having the sleeve 2 weeks apart.

Also, thinking I would be bedridden after surgery, I bought too much. I was at the grocery store 4 days after getting out of the hospital, walking slow though. Luckily all the powders have shelf life. But I spent a whole lot of time in the grocery store reading labels.

I had a big crockpot but found a smaller one at Walmart which was about $12 which will hold about 5 boneless chicken breasts, fat free mushroom Soup, etc. I love it.

One thing I have enjoyed is fat free refried Beans since I love anything mexican. It was like eating real food when I got to the mushy stage. The Laughing Cow small cheeses are great melted on the Beans for a light dinner.

Crystal Light is wonderful, in every flavor. You can make the peach or raspberry teas, mango, etc., and you can also sprinkle the powders in your shakes. We all love to tell people about the Torani sugar free syrups in the coffee sections, or at World Market, or on Amazon.com.< /p>

There are tons of things people talk about taking to the hospital, and really Most of them you don't need. A robe and chapstick are nice to have. YOu get really chapped lips from the opperation. I like the idea of changing the sheets, fluffing the pillows, I found a sippy cup nice for Protein drink and Water by my bed/couch. Your taiste buds will change after surgery, and you may hate things you used to like. You might order some sample Protein packs to try out after surgery, then you can order what you like. I found most things too sweet at first. Clear the hall, you will need to walk walk walk, get the mail, around the block, make sure you can get around a bit ever few hours... and don't lift anything! Not for weeks really... so lift what you need now, get down the crockpot or inlist the kids, hubby or whoever to do that for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
