donaboss 131 Posted January 3, 2014 How is this possible? It's just been 4 days since surgery! Uhg I better go to sleep before I make a mistake and eat something I shouldn't. This sucks. Maybe it's all in my head but I feel empty. I am drinking cranberry juice but it's not helping. Is anyone else experiencing this? I hope it's just not me?! De-jo 22 Posted January 3, 2014 I'm 3 1/2 weeks out and about day 4 or 5 it was like a light switch went off!!! i was hungry all the time. My dr prescribed a PPI (antacid like nexium) but my ins wouldn't pay b/c it was a solutab. So I went a good week or two with out the PPI. I called and told my dr the pharmacy never filled my rx so they called in normal doses. I just have to open the capsel and sprinkle it on sf pudding or yogurt. It has helped a lot. I took a few days for me to notice anything but i see a big difference in my hunger levels. Now I get hungry only around meal times. Also too, I read on here that it may take a few months for the hormone that creates hunger to diminish in your system. Don't worry, it should pass once you take nexium or something like it. the first week is the hardest. hang in there, it gets better i promise. I agree on the juice too...watch out for sugars. donaboss 131 Posted January 3, 2014 I've been adding half Water to it though. I don't even taste the sugar. It's the only drink I am liking Uhg. I know this is just a tool to help us but gosh idk why I am feeling this way. I was fine at the hospital. But being home is making me sad and hungry
Sassy Pants1 186 Posted January 3, 2014 I was hungry since day one. It gets better when you can add real food. Even the eat,y foods like a scrambled egg and runny oatmeal. It helps. Soup made me happy too.
staceyDR 6 Posted January 3, 2014 I'm still always hungry. I'm a year out. I nibble often but I guess it's ok I don't eat big anyway. I've lost 90 pounds
donaboss 131 Posted January 3, 2014 It sucks that I will be on liquids for 2 weeks. 10 more days to go .. In glad I am not the only one. I weigh 210lbs 5'4" so I thought maybe it's just me being big
wrightstuff12 0 Posted January 3, 2014 I am a little over 2 weeks out and I am hungry two. Still on liquids until Jan 9th. I am allowed yogurt & farina & strained Soups. It was tough over the holidays with company, sweets, good food, and now snowbound. But I thought the hunger monster would have been surgically removed, lol. Thick'n'Thin 171 Posted January 3, 2014 I would take something for acid. Most of that sensation is likely acid. Pepcid complete is what I take, much like eating a large sweet tart!
