ualaw08 270 Posted January 3, 2014 I'm 2 weeks out today and plain Water still doesn't settle well with me. Anyone else? I'm sure craving it but it just doesn't go down without a little crystal light.

butterfly_gal 151 Posted January 3, 2014 I can do plain Water, but it is super boring. I am a chai tea addict. I have about 3 cups a day. A dash of almond milk and sugar free cinnamon brown sugar Syrup, it is divine!
gomekast 559 Posted January 3, 2014 (edited) I'm 10 weeks post op and still can't do plain Water. Instead I drink propel zero in assorted flavors. They are in the drink packets. Target has the best selection of flavors. Edited January 3, 2014 by gomekast
No game 14,437 Posted January 3, 2014 Ok this is from member maharet111 I always like her answer so I copy and paste it to these questions. Okay a little science here as told to me by my surgeon. Water has a high surface tension, meaning that its barrier to allow it to be broken down is hard. Think of a steel paper clip that floats on the surface. Now your stomach is like the size of a coffee stirrer at this point due to swelling etc. because of the high surface tension it is hard sometimes for the Water to be absorbed and gets kind of backed up if that makes sense. So when you dilute water or mix it with something if breaks that high tension and thus can be absorbed faster. Not everyone experiences it but it is one of those side effects that can happen. Chellemetime 299 Posted January 3, 2014 I'm 2 weeks out today and plain Water still doesn't settle well with me. Anyone else? I'm sure craving it but it just doesn't go down without a little crystal light. Hi, I'm over a year out and still don't like the taste of plain water. I add lemon juice and that changes the taste so I can drink it with no problem.
Tikvah 70 Posted January 3, 2014 I guess I'm a freak of nature because I still loveeeeeeeeeeee plain Water.< /p> 2 sandisleeve and Koofka reacted to this
BerryChic 26 Posted January 4, 2014 Water was difficult for me until about 7 weeks. At 9 weeks I can actually take several large gulps at a time, it's great because I was sooo thirsty and sipping was driving me nuts!

I'm just like you abarta-- plain ice cold water turns me on! Lol But after VSG and hernia repair it's tough -- I've resorted to ice chips until I can fully tolerate ice water -- ice chips aren't easy either but less discomfort than ice water

That explanation was EXTREMELY helpful! A lot of things now make sense. I thought I was the only one.
