BGLady 3 Posted January 3, 2014 I am starting to research the gastric sleeve surgery. I have been reading that there is weight gain between 3-6 years. I have also read about a lot of Vitamin deficiencies. Can anyone give me some info on this??
Jenny12 361 Posted January 3, 2014 I am only a year out, so I can't speak for those that far out who regain. I can tell you that I can definitely see how it is possible. After the "honeymoon phase" of the beginning, I'd say it's a lot more difficult. It's up to you to maintain your loss. That being said, I have a much greater chance of maintaining now than I EVER did in my previous weight loss attempts. As for Vitamin deficiencies, my labs have been perfect since the beginning. This has certainly been the best decision of my life so far.

Sassy Pants1 186 Posted January 3, 2014 I am only 3 months post-op so I can't speak to regain. I can tell you my 2-month lab work was near perfect. I think we have yo be diligent about taking Vitamins and supplements.
julia7665 100 Posted January 3, 2014 I am 6 months out, so as the others said, I can't speak for the weight gain in the long term, but as with any weight loss surgery, there is still a lot of work involved with exercise and making good choices. You could easily put the weight back on, I'm sure, if you don't stick to a high Protein low carb diet. At this point, I still can't eat more than a 1/2 cup of food at a time and I was told by a year I would be able to eat a cup, so the stomach stretches but that is not anywhere near the capacity I had before surgery! As for the Vitamin deficiency, I take a Multivitamin and vit d with Calcium once a day and my labs have been perfect every two months since I had the surgery. Jenny12 361 Posted January 3, 2014 Thank you for the info. Do u take Vitamins? I take a multi, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, and fish oil. I took all of those except fish oil before surgery too.
