merie02 0 Posted January 2, 2014 Does anyone have BCBS of TX? I just found out my insurance is changing Feb. 1st and my old insurance co. covered the surgery but I can't get anyone at BCBS to tell me if it's covered. If it is can anyone tell me the requirements and pre-op process?
Coachdk 72 Posted January 2, 2014 There are different BCBS of Texas plans. It will depend on whether or not your employer has included bariatric surgery on your plan. Since it is starting in Feb they may not know all the details although your HR department should be able to tell you.
magtart 603 Posted January 2, 2014 I have BCBSTX. I had to have BMI or 40 or greater with no comorbidities or 35 or greater with two. A five year weight history, a visit with a nutritionist, a physc evaluation, an endoscopy, and an EKG. This was in 2013, though.
merie02 0 Posted January 2, 2014 5 year weight history? Is that just 5 years of being overweight? Or 5 years of dr. supervised diets?
magtart 603 Posted January 2, 2014 Just records from my regular visits to my PCP showing my weight.
katt1584 46 Posted January 3, 2014 I think they allow it but they will probably just deny you personally. Since that's how your luck has it.
