whosaysyoucant 111 Posted January 2, 2014 I got an ear and sinus infection prior to my original surgery date. Was miserable and went multiple times to urgent care. I was feeling much better the day of my last office visit before surgery. I pulled out my meds and told them I had a few to add to my chart. When I got to prednisone, the nurse went silent. She knew that I had a hell of time getting to this point and didn't want to be the bearer of bad new. You cannot be on prednisone and head into surgery. Apparently, it suppresses your immune system. So, I ended up finishing my prednisone and beginning a three week regimen of high doses of Vitamin A. Surgery was scheduled for just over three weeks later. :-( The moral of the story is if you need to see a doctor - AVOID, if you can, letting them put you on prednisone. Hope you get to feeling better!
