Hello, I am too close to being done . I have been medically supervised for 6 months, I gained weight during this time and then really thought about it and got serious and lost 16lbs. I am waiting for my clearance letter from endoscopy. My primary wasn't at all encouraging when I told him about my surgery. I am going through Beaumont in Royal Oak MI and have BCN of MI. I had to get a referral to be seen for the weight loss program but I think my primary would have rather seen me go to the hospital he uses. No one ever told me I had to get an OK for the surgery from my primary. I was told that all I needed was the clearance letter and then I will make an appointment with surgeon (he will give me my date), take a class on how to do pre opp diet and start diet two weeks before surgery which consists of 4 shakes a day and one meal. It seems the 6 monthw went by quick although it did not at first. I am happy for you you have done great in your wight loss!

Hi Cupcake. I originally was on the Beaumont diet and got a referral for that. Then I switched over to the process for the sleeve and never got another referral since its good for so many months. I just got the referral renewed. I went to my primary doc when i was sick and told him I was getting the surgery. He OK'd the test for the scope and I told him it was for surgery clearance. No one told me I had to have an OK from him. I assume they think its OK since he renewed my referral for the visits. What hospital are you using and why do you have to wait two months for surgeon?

Paj92434 hi please double check with your primary regarding the referral you do not want any delayments. My primary sent my referral for the surgery to the wrong doctor at 3 months, and they caught the mistake in my 5th month do to this error itbwas not sent yo joy surgeon until the 5 th month, I just completed my 6 month weight mangement requirement jane 4/2014 and the next available date to see my surgeon was March 5/2014 . But I will see him for four hours, I will get my two week prep diet for surgery, get medical cleared by the. Anesthesiolist, see the nutritionist all at Detroit Henry Ford hospital I will be meeting with Dr, Carlin . My insurance required a state of the excellence center to approved 100 percent of my surgery .

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
