I Lost ******* in 2013

Recommended Posts

I lost 73 LBS in 2013 & started New Years Day with another LB down making my total loss so far 74 LBS since July 18th 2013! Starting weight 2 days po was 321 lbs & am now @ 247 lbs! (forgot to weigh myself day of surgery) I have also been told to hold off on taking my diabetic medications until follow up blood work because my A1C is doing so well without taking the meds. I was on 4 different diabetic meds & currently take none in 2014!!!! I lost an entire wardrobe that is way too big for me now ( which is a good thing) lol! Very EXCITED to see what 2014 holds for me!!!

I lost 107 pounds (of the 132 total) in 2013 (had a great loss in Dec 2012)!

I lost the self-loathing that came with the super morbid obesity and ALWAYS being the biggest person in every room.

I lost constant pain and aching that came with that much weight.

I lost the hopeless feeling that these things could never change.

I lost (aka quit) a job that added to my feelings of worthlessness regardless of how well I performed, and found a dream job.

2013 was a very good year for me. Less than 30 pounds to goal in 2014! I'm planning to make it another very good year.

How much did you lighten this world up in 2013? What makes you grateful for your WLS?

Journey towards WLS started on October 30th, 2012 with my first visit to the nutritionist. At that time I weighed 453 pounds. Highest I'd ever been.

Beginning of 2013, I weighed 419. At date of surgery on 6/4/2013 I was down to 371. Current weight this morning was 267.

Total weight loss for 2013, 152 pounds! 104 since surgery :). Total weight loss since starting this journey, 186!

WLS has changed my life. I pay more attention to what my body needs and treat myself better. I also have become more active and feel more confident. I've also found some great friends, both online and in my WLS support group, who are fantastic people.

At the beginning of 2013 I weighed 247 pounds. I had surgery on June 18th (6 1/2 months ago) and I closed 2013 weighing in at 165 pounds! That's 82 pounds lost!!! My weight loss has slowed tremendously, but I still lose about 1 pound a week, averaging 3-7 pounds a month and I'm 15 pounds away from my original goal :D

I love that I have the energy to play with my kids: baseball, volleyball, jump on the trampoline, ride bikes. I love that I can cross my legs, squat down and get up without a problem, and just a greater range of flexibility without my big tummy or legs to hinder my movements. I especially love moments, like today when I went shopping, when I try on clothes and the sizes keep getting smaller. I finally hit single digits--a size 8!!!! Ya me!!!!! #lovingmysleeve

I had my surgery Nov 2012 and was in the hospital until Mid January. I don't think I was really losing while I was in there. Maybe 10lbs if anything so not exactly sure of my January weight but I lost 115 lbs total by the end of 2013.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
