Monday night found me in the ER and tuesday pm found me at Dr Speigels getting and unfill. Thank everyone so much for you concern and comments, they did not go unread. My problem, it turns out was that I had food poisening from mussels and before I could get over that, I caught that nasty stomach bug going around. Lots o vomiting lead to extreme swelling in my esophogus, my unfill has allowed me to get down the Powerade that I need to get better not to mention the chicken Soup. It will take time to get over the weakness(and the phenergan they shot me with) thanks so much for listening(readin):tired :kiss

Hey I am so glad that you are going to live! Did you say that you got food poisioning from muscles. Is that a sea food? I dont know a lot but that sounds awful. How much of a fill did you have and hows your weight loss to date? Just wondering? Take it easy...Janie

Minda, so glad to hear from you! We were ALL getting worried.

Im with Leatha... did he do any test to make sure the band was still in the proper place?

I posted a thread about a month ago regarding THIS exact situation - reagarding what happens when we have a stomach virus or food poisoning and have to vomit from the stomach - NOT the pouch. This was the only question that bothered me about getting the band.

Glad you are on the road to healing!

Find out if they were fresh or frozen. If they were frozen you're a very lucky person. They may have been harvested in their poisonous month.

Sheeeesh. go through major surgery to beat the enemy, food, and find that food is still the enemy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
