Transfer Patient / LapBand / Slipped

Recommended Posts

I am located in Bowling Green, KY. At the time I had my LapBand Surgery, I was unaware of any WLS in my area. So I had mine done in Louisville, KY (about 2 hours away). Now, with our limited budget and rise in gas prices (since 2010), we are not financially able to travel to Louisville anymore. I haven't been back to my Surgeon for a long time. Recently had an (upper) endoscopy done and found out through that, that my Band has slipped and is not working. Good reason why I stopped losing weight! I had stopped losing the last couple of visits to my Surgeon and he did adjustments, but I still, stayed where I was, STUCK! I tried to get the Bariatric Weight Loss Clinic here in Bowling Green to take me as a transfer patient, even after my DX with the scope. They refuse to take me as a transfer patient or at all! Bowling Green is funny like that! The doctors here get offended if you see a doctor out of the area. I believe this is why they won't take me. Does anyone know of any bariatric WLS doctors in or around Bowling Green, KY (other than the one I told about previously), even if it's as far as Nashville, TN. That's still a lot closer than Louisville! Hope someone can give me some information and advice! Thank you!

I'm not near you but bariatric docs make their income off the surgery and accepting patients with existing issues/conditions is rarely done most anywhere.

There are some who will, but you have to call them all. If you have a PC, go to the top of this page and click on surgeons and search for surgeons in your area.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
