I am 12 days post op.....I work at a private school..my dress attire is jeans and a school shirt. I am concerned about wearing regular jeans at first because of 1. the tightness on my stomach and 2. The waist would sit right n top of my larger incision that is still a litlle painful.

Have any of you worn pull on elastic jeans for a little while when you were healing? Did it help?

I know they are not pretty, but my shirt is not tucked in so it would only show legs.

Any brand you recommend?

I did not wear jeans to much in the beginning.

I wore mainly yoga pants and sweats.

But I'm wondering if an abdominal binder might help under your jeans?

I didn't have one but looking back I wish I had because I feel it would of kept my stomach in a more stable state and my scars would of healed a bit better and not so "stretched".

Also it would be a cushion between the stomach and the waistband.

I wear jeans almost every day. For the first couple of weeks I wore them with the binder and it was no problem. I bet you could also find a compression shirt or tank that will tuck in if you don't have a binder. It's amazing how much better my incisions felt with the compression.

If you have a chico's near you I suggest trying on their so slimming jeans. I just bought a pair last week and they are very comfy. They are also quite stretchy almost like sweat pants but they still manage to look tailored and neat. I don't know how they do it. I am wearing 18s in the regular departments and I got a 2.5 which they say is equivalent to a 14. I think their sizes run quite big. I would guess their 4 would be equivalent to a 24 instead of the 20 they say. Not sure what size you are now but if you're 24 or less I bet you could find something there or order online.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
