How are YOU ringing in the new year?

Recommended Posts

We have a thread about resolutions but what are you doing to Celebrate a new year!? This New Year's Eve it isn't about food or alcohol, but about spending time with friends and family and loved ones! Playing games, sharing laughs, and creating new beginnings! And to a healthier new year! Happy New Years friends :)

I'm going to sound about 85 years old here, but both of our kids are going out with friends. So the hub and I are going to go have an early dinner somewhere and then probably walk the aisles of Walgreens. We're nutty.

Lol I love it, I'm making a lean thin crust pizza with artichokes, tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, and some light cheese for dinner and we will probably be playing Yahtzee and watching movies! I am going to the gym here soon before it closes though!

We live in the country with about 6 houses on our road. So we are all getting together and having a bonfire. Everyone brings a dish and what ever you want to drink. Then walk home. :)

Got my daughter, granddaughters, wife, and cats: Tigger, Cleocatra, and Jumping Jack Flash, watching Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years. Had take out Chinese, coffee from the Kuerig, watching a sub-standard rapper, (according to my granddaughter).

Come on 2014 , I don't sweat you! :D

Edit:

Oops, should have said Richard Clark..... :D

Spent the evening with my daughter-in-law, husband and grand children. We played some games and then read bedtime stories to the kids. Behaved myself food wise and proud of it.

Funny how I don't drink anymore bc I'd rather eat my calories than drink them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
