Anyone else going through this kind of process too. So to get approved for the surgery i have to go through roughly ten appointments or classes. I have to go through two meetings with the social worker, two with the nutritionist, plus two nutrition classes, not including the one before surgery. I also must attend at PT class, a support group, mandatory to meet with my gyno for birth control. The center Im going birth control is not an option they give you two options of which one to get on. I also forgot about labs and appointment with my regular doctor. I started the process december 2nd and will complete my final appointment Jan 17, if they don't decide to add more. The center is really good about doubling appointments to speed things up. They expect to take 4 to 6 months for surgery.

I have started my process on Dec. 17, 2013. I have sent for my packet from the surgeons office, but since it is the holidays I have not received anything yet. Are you self pay? Just wondering because my process will take place over 7 month which is what my insurance company require.

I have United Healthcare of Alabama. I have not gotten any dates for Pre Op testing yet. I guess the Coordinator will call me after the Holidays to schedule me for everything. I am nervous and excited and so looking forward to weight loss...lol

I have the same insurance comp. for what I been reading in here that's pretty fast don't you think because there's people who wait 3 to 6 months before they get approve! My first visit to the WLS doctor for consultation was Dec. 5. I have to do a sleep apnea testing first and then go from there! I have my sleep apnea test appt. on this Friday! ONE QUESTION: do you know if you're going to have a out of pocket for your surgery? The coordinate told me that the hospital and surgery was cover at 100% but until I see this in black and white I will stop worrying of how much I will pay out of pocket?

Im confused about my out of pocket, my insurance states they cover 80% of surgery but the center says different. I do have to pay $300 for surgeon fee. And I thought my last appt was the 17 but its Feb 14th. So Ill be asking more questions when I speak with the finance dept.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
