Hello everyone! I am wondering, is there anyone who was diagnosed with sleep apnea a couple years ago, before you had to do the sleep study for surgery? I had my sleep study done in 2011, and was diagnosed then with sleep apnea. I have a Cpap machine! I have an appointment with the pulmonologist who read my test on the 16th of jan. I'm wondered and worried that he will make me go through another sleep study. What do you think? I sure hope I don't have to!

If you already have a Cpap machine and your using it I doubt if they will make you do another sleep study. They'll just tell you to bring your cpap with you for surgery.

Hello. I got my sleep apnea study and diagnosis in 2007. Use my CPAP every night, have really bad apnea. At my first meeting at the weight loss clinic (11/22) the initial doctor I meet with told me I would need to get pulmonary clearance for my surgery. I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to setup that appt. I had my appt with the surgeon on 12/23 and when I told him I haven't made the appt yet for pulmonary clearance he said I don't need it, I just need to bring my machine along when I get the surgery. Anyway, they never stated I would need to do another sleep study so don't think that is needed. I go back on 1/9 so I hope to get clarification if the pulmonary clearance is needed.

We have a person who works for the hospital who checks everything for us, and we could go to her and she would find the answers. My husband knew he had sleep apnea bad but never would go to the doctor. This surgery forced him to get pulmonary clearance, thank God, and he is now sleeping with his cpap and oxygen.

He is 1 month post op so I am hoping one day he can come off it when he loses weight.

Good luck!!!!! So happy for you, like us, getting to change your lives with this surgery.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea a while back, but for some foolish reason I refused to get the CPAP machine. Even though I told my surgeon about my condition, he ordered a sleep study anyway. I think they may do this just to strengthen your case to get approved for the surgery when they submit you. I believe tha's what happened in my case.

There are more issues involved than insurance approval. Patients that have sleep apnea are a serious risk for complications with anesthesia. I have severe apnea and use my CPAP every night. I had to bring it with me to the hospital and used it the night I was there. In addition, they connected an oxygen line to it via an adapter.

I felt that I received special attention because of the apnea. I spoke with the Surgeon about 15 minutes before the procedure. He wanted to assure me that the team was confident they had done the proper prep and that I would spend some time in the Surgical ICU during recovery because of the apnea

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
