My Lap Band Surgery Story

Recommended Posts

My name is Sherry Milledge and I am from Ashley Mich and I had my surgery on April 16th of this year, and i think i am doing great started out at 310lbs and i am down to 236 but one of my biggest problems is motivation and looking for freinds to chat with that had the same procedure done. I am looking for variety of Snacks to munch on also menu planning of what i am going to eat for the following day. Just found out that i have capulitis inboth of my feet and it is very painful but i am doing 6 laps on my treadmill in 32.50 minutes and i dont think that is to bad. Looking forward to chatting with anyone

Hello Sherry!

You are doing awesome...what a great loss! You must feel great!

As for Snacks I am probably not much help to you...I only snack once during my day (between lunch and dinner around 3) and I keep it quick and simple since I am in the car driving home from work--laughing cow light cheese or blue diamond 100 cal almond packs or maybe some hummus and a few crackers...just a little something to get me to 6 for dinner and I do not eat anything after dinner.

I'm a pretty boring eater...usually the same stuff just cycled around. Breakfast is Cereal w/ 1/2 c. milk (kashi golean or high Protein special k) or hot Cereal or smart ones WW Breakfast sandwich. Weekends could be an omelet. lunch is chicken, tuna or egg salad w/ light mayo and some kind of crackers. Sometimes I'll bring in some leftover Protein from dinner the night before. As for dinner, we eat in way more than out and I eat everything just smaller portions.

Not sure if that help you....I also had lap-band with plication on 9/19...so far so good! Feeling good with so much more energy!

Hi Sherry,

You ARE doing great. Very impressive weight loss. I was banded on Aug. 22, 2013. At my heaviest, I was 327. I was 271 at the doctor's visit before surgery, and I was 234 at my last doctor's visit four weeks ago. I won't weigh again till I go back for a visit/ fill on January 13. I can't weigh every day or even every week bc I let the scale dictate my mood..... Sick, huh?? Anyway.... I pretty much don't eat Snacks anymore, but I still like snack food. So, I eat the snack food for lunch or dinner .... Example) I love homemade guacamole .... I eat it with chips called Beanitos (they are made of pinto Beans or black beans). I also peel and freeze whole bananas. I'll take it out of the freezer and spread Peanut Butter on it....it's frozen deliciousness .... Again, I eat that as a meal, even though it's sort of a snack food. Keep up your great work. Keep exercising. I am 53 and was a certified COUCH POTATO. For the past seven months, I have become a full fledged exerciser.... I now do 6.25-6.3 miles on the elliptical five to six days a week. I do a thirty minute resistance workout three days a week as well. I sometimes can't wrap my brain around all the changes that I've gone through and am going through now.... Stay in touch! Tammie

I have to have Snacks because I have become hypoglycemic so I usually will have greek yogurt, almonds with dark chocolate chips, 1 ounce of cheddar cheese with wheat thins reduced fat, sugar free hot chocolate made with skim milk, cottage cheese, sugar free pudding, laughing cow cheese with pretzel crisps, hummus and pretzel crisps, hard boiled egg. These are just some of the things I can think of off the top of my head.

My daughter is also hypoglycemic as well. She needs to eat every three hours or so. Her snacks include:

nuts,

almond butter or Peanut Butter on celery, apple slices, or bananas,

raw vegetables with spinach/artichoke dip,

egg white omelets with spinach, cheese, and mushrooms,

a scoup of pre-made tuna or chicken salad, Protein Bars,

pickled vegetables,

deviled eggs,

humus with Beanitos,

fruit muffins

Hope this can add to your snack list.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
