tell me that its ok that I've only lost 33 lbs in 3 months

Recommended Posts

I feel like a failure. I haven't done all that I should be doing so its mostly my fault but I am still a very slow loser. I've had tons of stalls. I feel like this is not working for me.

starting weight 262, current weight 229

33 lbs is 33 lbs...That is 11 lbs every month..not bad kid...

Reevaluate what you want and maybe you can up the Protein and Water...That may help...

Stop looking at numbers as whether you are successful or not...

Put 33 lbs of butter on the table and lift it up.....That is a lot of butter..K

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming!!!!!!!!!!

I lose around 2 lbs a week. Lots of people lose at the rate you are experiencing. To be one the safe side, why don't you post your average daily calories, number of carbs, Protein, fats, etc. then we can take a look and reassure you or give you some pointers.

Oh no, you're not a failure. You've lost 33lbs that aren't going to come back. And the difference with your sleeve is that you will keep losing steadily if you get your Protein in, drink plenty Water and move more than you did before :-)

Don't give up and don't compare what you're doing to what anyone else is doing. We all work our sleeves the best way we can - and you seem to know you could do more with yours...

So new year, new chance to get back on track. Just please don't give up. We've all been there and as with all difficult times, this too will pass...

It's okay. If you take 33 and divide it by 13 for the number of weeks in 3 months, it averages 2.5 pounds a week. You are losing and showing progress. Any loss is a loss and not a gain. Too often people want to rush the process. I have heard that if you lose slower it can help your skin to adapt to your new body. Not sure if it's true or not. What's going to happen at the end when you reach goals is you will still have to watch what you eat to maintain the weight. Enjoy the ride along the way.

We didn't put it on overnight so it won't come off overnight. When people want it to happen fast, reminds me of little kids in the car when you're going on a long trip saying, "are we there yet?"

DANG - I would have LOVED to lose 33 lbs in 3 months! Well done!

Don't let yourself believe you are losing slow...or fast...take satisfaction in the fact that you are losing by following the rules. Keep doing what you know you need to do and you will get there. Celebrate your weight loss journey....the frustration....stalls....embarrassments...insults....poo stories....whatever! All the ups/downs are what make the experience your own. You are doing great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
