What-the-actual-heck is going on today? So many mean people! Just calm the heck down and just do YOU. Never mind what others are doing?

This is so far out there, OP could not be for real!

There are LOTS of successful bandsters. Every surgery has it's merits and drawbacks and each has to be considered with respect to your individual circumstances. WLS is an individual decision, and we must respect and support each other. None of the options are easy.

It's not misinformation! mayo Clinic REALLY stated that it was not an effective stand alone procedure. Allergan REALLY sold the Lap-Band.

Now go back over to your Lap-Band swimming pool & throw some more bleach in those tainted waters.

Thanks for the reasoned responses. Sleeved the fat needs to be reminded this is a forum for support and not obesity helps or other forums that tolerate misinformation. We bandster's welcome reasoned responses with accurate information.

But to Celebrate on this forum her own early success and to insinuate others choices are idiotic is very tasteless. Show some class ms sleevethefat. You are so new to this you might be eating your words later on. I hope not and wish you all the success in the world.

The decision to have WLS is individual and must be made by each of us.

I've had the Lap-band for 10 1/2 years now and most definitely consider myself a success. I know many many long term successful Lap-band patients as well. It should be considered a tool like any other WLS. The Band is a lot easier to target blame since it's a device. It difficult to blame the staples when someone fails their sleeve. There are positives and negatives to each procedure. I'm not going to get caught up in this debate :D

Please read through the rules you agreed to abide by when signing up.

I'll list the first two lines so you get an idea of what I'm getting at.....

They're setting themselves up for failure, no? And the Banders reasoning makes zero sense to me. They like that it's reversible? WTF?

To answer your question, no, we are not setting ourselves up failure. Do people fail, sure, can a body reject a foreign object and create a failure, sure, do we set up for failure, absolutely not. I see that you can manage a google search. How about trying to search for info on the band other than looking for the idiot side of it. I'm glad that you chose to have WLS and that you are trying to make a difference in your life but just because you made a decision for you doesn't mean you have the right to ridicule the decision I made for me.

I won't bore you with the reasons as to why I got the band but I will tell you that "reversible" was not at the top of my list for my decision making.

Maybe the few of us that are surprised by your original post are missing the point of the post. Maybe its because you are new to being on the post op side and are trying to make a name for yourself. Let me just say, you have made a name for yourself with me and my buddy 2much. I assure you, we will never forget your name.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
