I had RNY last Thu the 26th of Dec. My highest weight was 520 last year. When I started the journey of WLS over the past summer I weighed in at 496. The day of my surgery I weighed 463.

I was released from the hospital 48 hours later.

I feel miserable. I really do. Can't sleep, stomach is tight & sore. Feel light headed at times & down.

I am drinking my Protein shakes but Water taste like metal to me. I'm due to see the doctor on the 8th of June. Was told to start puréed meals this upcoming Friday.

Just don't feel myself at all. I know it's a change but Jesus, I don't think I've smiled once since it was done. Except when I came home :)

I felt pretty much the same. I was pretty miserable the first 2 weeks, but I promise, it got better each day. I'm 1 month out and still don't do well after eating for about 30 mins, but I feel 100% the rest of the day. Keep your eye on the goal. It will get better and it will be completely worth it soon enough!!!! Just rest for now and get your Protein in. For the Water I used "true lemon", you can find it in the spice section of the grocery store and it made my water heavier and taste better.

I had my surgery on the same day. I notice small changes each day. Belly not as swollen and my headache is gone. Sad to say I haven't had a shower yet either, but I will tomorrow. Still like Water but most sugar free is so chemical tasting, I would rather not eat it. I will have to see what type bothers me the most. Hang in there.

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling so good. It indeed is a big change and can just totally take a lot out of you. The good news is this usually passes! It even became my mantra over time.."This too shall pass." I've got to say you have come to an awesome group for support. Anytime you feel down or just need to ask questions we are here. We pretty much all know how things can feel overwhelming at 1st. The main thing right now is getting your fluids in. The rest is a learning curve that comes. Wishing you a speedy recovery :)

You're so right....it's not only a physical challenge, but an emotional one as well. Be patient and kind with yourself, and give yourself time to heal. God Bless, and Happy New Year!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
