Sick!! Help!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hmmm, Been awhile since I have written, but I have been reading to catch up!

I have a cold, one of those stuffy head, achy, chest cold things that really suck!

Anywho, what the heck can I take? Especially for the cough?? My ribs hurt and my nose is sore!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was offered some Delsym for the cough, but don't know if I can take it!!

Thanks!

Michelle,

Sorry you are sick! I was going to write to you tonight to see if you are going to the support meeting tomorrow. I was planning on it, then just realized (or reread the letter) and I was supposed to RSVP 2 days prior. Oh well, next time!

So, on to your cold! How about childrens' yummy liquid? Or, seeing Dr. D wanted us to take liquid Tylenol for pain, is there a liquid cold Tylenol for adults? There must be one for kids for some relief!

Heating pad for ribs, nice cup of tea, good movie and you should feel much better! I hope so any way! I'll e-mail ya soon and we'll catch up!

Baily, you might get some cough Syrup w/ a cough suppressant in it. That repeated coughing will surely make you sore. Have you tried Theraflu? There are several different ones for different problems. It is a powder that mixes into a hot cup of Water and tastes good. (There's cheaper generics available.) But be careful if you're also taking liquid Tylenol. The Theraflu usually has tylenol in it. A hot cup of tea (no caffeine) w/lemon and honey helps w/sore throat and relaxes you so you can sleep better. Gargling w/ warm salt water is healing to a sore throat. You can get saline nose spray for stuffy nose and/or dry nasal passages. It doesn't have anything in it to hurt you and can be used as often as needed. Drink plenty of water. Wash your hands often. Lysol spray everything in sight. Hope you get to feeling better very soon!:D

Do you think it would be ok if I took childrens cough medicine? Like trimedic or the deslym, or something like that??

Cough driving me crazy!! No sore throat, just headachy, body achy and stuffy runny nose.

I am asthmatic (SEVERE) so any cold goes right to my lungs!

Thanks for all the replies!

I took some tylenol for the aches, but still have an annoying cough!

I would think as long as you follow it with a glass of Water to wash the pouch out, it should be okay, but as always you might want to contact your doc to make sure.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
