Today makes two weeks since surgery. I was told that after a few bites of Soup and sips of Water I would feel so full I would feel like I was going to pop. I have yet to feel that feeling. I'm still on the liquid phase until I go to the doctor tomorrow (hopefully). I can get down 1/2 a can of cream soup and stop because I think I should, not necessarily because I feel full. Is this because it's just liquids?

I am surprised you don't feel full, stay away from fattening foods like cream Soup. When you begin to feel full it will probably be when you have eaten too much and then there is a system that is called the dumping system, you want to avoid this. I had the surgery two years ago, and lost 100 pounds recently I have gained weigh, and i am lookking for a group or chat room where i can hear if others have had this happen, also i want to hear about the diet again. do you have the diet?

I asked my surgeon the same question and he told me that it will be easier to tell you are full when you get to solid foods. I got the surgery on December 20 and I am still on thicker liquids but he said I can have cottage cheese. I find that the cottage cheese fills me quickly and I feel that fullness you and I are both looking out for! Hopefully this is helpful

I do have the diet. I've been following it. I've lost 20 pounds since surgery on the 16th.

I never felt that "full" feeling either but I also didn't really feel hungry. My doctor had me only eating 4 oz of food (liquids included other than water) per meal. Make sure that you are not eating just to eat. Maybe you are not feeling full because you were never really hungry...maybe head hunger. Just an idea. Hope that helps :)

also remember that your nerve ending are healing and the sensation of feeling full is not really there yet. Be careful and stick to your doctors plans.

Hey Chisti, I felt exactly the same on the liquid phase. I think it's a combination of heeling and just having liquid. I'm now in the mince phase and like some others have suggested feel MUCH more satisfied after eating. Now my biggest problem is making sure i go slow and don't overfill myself - it certainly has taken me some bad overfull experiences to learn but you do learn fast! I hope you have the same experience on mince. Best of luck - the two weeks of liquids are the most challenging, it will only get better from here! K

Ps - I also found following the don't drink either side of eating rule really good and always have Protein first.

The nerve endings in your stomach take time to heal which is why you won't feel full or hungry for awhile post op. This is why you should weigh and measure what you eat. Also follow the plan your surgeon gave you. Once the nerve endings repair themselves you will feel full quickly.

I had my surgery on 12/30 and I just asked my husband if he thought the surgeon cut my pouch too big. I'm not eating a lot but I also never get the full feeling but I do hear grumbling when I'm eating my Protein Shake. I have been craving salt which is weird for me so I did suck on a couple of pretzels then I threw them out. I'm on puréed and cottage cheese type foods now so maybe things will start making me feel fuller. I'm trying to stick to the tsp over 15 minute rule. I have to keep reminding myself that I can't just chug a bunch of Water like I would normally. My husband had this surgery 7 years ago and he has slowly put back on 30 pounds so I hope my rule following and limited intake will help him. We went grocery shopping tonight and he did make better choices even though our grocery bill doubled.

Craving salt can mean you are low on Vitamins and minerals so make sure you are taking them! You won't get a full feeling until the nerves in the stomach heal so just stick to the plan and eat the amounts your surgeon recommended. Best wishes to you and your hubby for success!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
