So my steri-strips were peeling very badly and I had been told that after about a week and a half I could just remove them if this happened. So I peeled them off after a shower and the scabs in my incisions (I am ABSOLUTELY blown away with how small 4 of them are. How and what tool of any use went through there? Amazing!) had stuck and peeled off with them! It didn't hurt as they were moist and peeled right out, but now all my incisions are mostly healed but not flush with my skin and missing scabs. I'm going to scar more don't you think?

You might not. I can still clearly see my incisions after 9 weeks but they do seem to even out a bit.

Five years after gallbladder surgery, I have to look for my incisions. Really. They're there, but they have faded to almost nothing.

once your scars are healed over start putting caster oil on them..that reduces the redness, and softens the scar even on the inside as it penetrates the skin....

I had 12 large holes in my belly from the tubes that they used to drain the septic material.....there is only 1 that is kinda weird...And it was the deepest one.......

Remember skin stretches so they really don't need to make huge incisions...Most find that the one highest on your left side is the biggest because that is where they pull the stomach out....

Just don't get upset just yet...k

I'm 13 weeks out. Two of my scars used to be risen a little (not plush with my other skin). Now they are the same with the other skin. They look very good. One you can hardly see now. The other ones were so small even after surgery.

I'm eleven days out and those strips seem to be GLUED on! :o

I'll ask my doc if I can put Mederma on the scars once I get access...

I had staples as well. My surgeon always uses staples for some reason. My incisions healed over well. I only had three incisions, one on each side of my stomach and one inside my belly button.

Poor you that sounds super painful!!! Mine isn't as close to my bra line thank god because most of my bras are underwire.

I had a breast lift done several years ago....the full anchor lift which leaves the most amount of scaring. Today you can barely even see them. They appear as very faint thin white lines which you can really only see in full sunlight. In a normal lightbulb light they are practically invisible. By the end of one year your scaring will be 90% less visible.

I have five incision scars plus the drain scar. Two incisions were about a quarter of an inch to half an inch each. The other three are all about and inch to an inch and a half. In the hospital one of my incisions oozed horribly. I was told it was because I have to be on blood thinners and they said my subcutaneous tissue was "mush". So they glued it shut. The rest were stiched. I tried removing my steri strips too early, but my surgeon said it was ok. I ended up busting a stitch or two in one incision then spent two weeks dressing with butterfly bandages to try to pull it together to heal well. That scar is the only odd one. The area that opened developed a larger area of scar tissue. It "looks" almost the same but feels a lot different than the other scars. They are all still pretty red, but I am sure they will fade with time.

I am 4 weeks post op...2 steri strips have fallen off with no problem but the last 3 are still on there. Two of the incisions have stitching sort of poking out of the side. Does anyone have this problem? Should I just trim it?

Why is it that some surgeons can get away with only making a few incisions while other have to make several incisions on the stomach? Shouldn't it be the same common practice along the board?

I think some of it has to do with their experience and comfort level. Mine used the Da Vinci robot and created 5 incisions!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
