ualaw08 270 Posted December 30, 2013 Everyone has been complaining about my breath since surgery. I brush, floss, use mouthwash but still can't get the stink to go away. Anyone else having this issue? Any solutions? 1 Comfy_Blue reacted to this
PdxMan 4,292 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Ketosis. Do a search for it here on the forum and the GoogleVerse. Quite common. I'm sure you have also noticed that whatever you are eating doesn't taste quite right ... perhaps a metallic tint to it? Ketosis. I told my wife my mouth tasted like a cat's butt. Don't ask me how I know that. Once your carbs get up, you will be fine. During the pre-opt clear liquid diet, I noticed that things started taking on a metallic taste and it freaked me out. I thought my taste buds were permanently screwed. Plus my breath sadly did stink. Now I'm on the full liquids faze (lots of creamy broths, pudding, yogurt, Water, and Protein shakes) and it's gotten a lot better.
magtart 603 Posted December 30, 2013 I just told my son that my breath smells like dog poop. My pee also has a weird medicinal odor. Actually, I now smell like my husband who has been on a feeding tube for 18 months. I hope it goes away when I start on pureed foods tomorrow.

rachel_b 5 Posted November 12, 2014 i've also noticed the bad breath... i brush multiple times a day... i always feel like my teeth have a weird film over them now. I've always been about nice teeth so i do keep up on my brushing and dentist visits. also, my pee i think smells too... it's light yellow in color so i think i can rule out dehydration but any suggestions on what to change?
