I want to make a ticker for myself, but I am not sure what I should use as my starting weight. The weight at my first office visit, the weight when I started my pre-op diet or the weight the morning of my surgery. What did all of you do? Thanks!

I love the tickers as that's such an easy way to see where some one is in their journey. Use whichever starting weight is good for you to measure that progress over time. I went with my real pre-surgery weight prior to the pre-op diet (the number submitted to my insurance company was higher). Have fun watching the ticker go down and try not to get frustrated if it stands still sometimes. I highly recommend taking measurements as well, since the inches come off sometimes even when the scale is not moving.

I used the weight after the pre-op diet to start my ticker, but as Bandista said you can use any number that is motivational for you, as you watch the number go down down down.

Measurements are also a great idea, the inches for me fell away faster then the number on the scale.

Best of luck to you!

I used the number before my pre op diet. I figured the morning I started my liquid diet was the start of my journey so that morning I took what I consider to be my starting weight.

I used the number from my first office visit. It's higher and it makes me feel better. lol. I started making small changes to my diet after that, so I consider it all part of the program.

I used my heaviest weight recorded at the DR's Office, I am not sure what my actual heaviest weight was since the scale at my home only went up to 300 lbs.

What weight you use is up to you.

You might also want to take a picture now as painful as it might seem. I do not have any pictures at my heaviest weight since I avoided the camera when I got over 285.

You might also want to write a letter to yourself explaining why you are doing this so when you are tempted to give in you can go back and read it for encouragement.

I used my heaviest from earlier this summer and what prompted me to go down this path of weight loss surgery.

I decided to go with the weight from my first visit with the surgeon. That is when the official journey began. Thanks for all of your advice!

I also used my weight day of pre op diet as my beginning weight.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
