alcoholic beverages

Recommended Posts

I gave up alcohol in June and I do not miss it one bit! I plan to drink Water and enjoy it! There are SF Torani syrups you can plan to experiment with, and Skinny Free SF mixers. Wine can be diluted with a little Water and ice cubes. So many choices!!!! Happy New Year!

I haven't done any alcohol yet....hoping to try a small glass of wine in a few months. A small amount of most booze is low cal. Don't go crazy. I used to mix booze with crystal light. Yum!

Only 7 weeks out so I will resist. However, diet cranberry (5 calories) and vodka is very low calorie and festive. Happy NewYears!

I'd avoid beer because of the carbs. But I got (accidently) looped on a few glasses on wine on Christmas. My tolerance is WAY LOW!

I had a bout 1/4 of a very small glass of wine at Christmas and was fine. I was told by the Physcologist at my visit that I couldn't drink anymore after one glass that I would be passed out on the floor if I did. I belive if you eat something and wait the thirty min afterwards to drink it you should be ok just don't go crazy amd bing on it.

I haven't missed the alcohol at all! I believe we are clear at my dr office at 3 months in moderation. However, I have pretty much decided I would wait at least 6 months, so this summer I may or may not have libations. On a side note, I went to happy hour at least once a week with my friends, I will probably be going periodically, as I have went to the sports bar this past sunday to watch the Cowboys - ugh, but sticking to unsweetened tea actually has been great, and like i said in the beginning, not missing it at all!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
