Recycled 2,182 Posted December 29, 2013 Sounds a bit thin. I'm 5'11" and my goal is 180 and that will probably be a little on the thin side. I think two and a quarter would be closer to a good size. Add some muscle to trim it out. 1 ElliottWasHere reacted to this
wesleyrr 7 Posted January 1, 2014 I'm 6'4" and started at 340. I'm now at 208 and think I'm about where I want to be. 2 Butterthebean and ElliottWasHere reacted to this
cubbies76 132 Posted January 1, 2014 I'm 6'4" and and down about 95 pounds right now. 180 seems a little low. Have you done a body fat analysis? I did one and I'm finding my non-fat body mass is about 200. A normal body fat % for guys is about 18% so that means my "ideal" body mass would be about 240. Body fat analyzers aren't an exact science so it's just an estimate. 180 might be what you need to be, but maybe consider seeing what your non-fat mass is. Just my humble suggestion. Good luck on your journey. 1 ElliottWasHere reacted to this

I was thinking somewhere in the lower 200s would be good.
cubbies76 132 Posted January 2, 2014 I'm guessing you mean the BMI charts. That chart is somewhat flawed. It was developed a long time ago and is just a quick formula. Often it can be fairly accurate, but everyone is not built the same. But the body fat analyzers also aren't super accurate. So, I'm just going with seeing what I'll,be when I'm down to 240 of so then reevaluate if necessary. 3 Borders3, Recycled and ElliottWasHere reacted to this

Haven't really had too much loose skin, at least not as much as I though I would. My skin is a little looser on my belly than I would like it to be, but let's just say I would much rather take my shirt off in front of people now, than I would have before surgery. macman 603 Posted January 5, 2014 Tank Are you talking with a NUT about pre op diets? How long before your surgery? Many surgeons have a team of people that are there to help with a plan. It would be helpful to know where you are in the process? I was in a six month program My NUT suggested I track calories with MyFitness Pal on a daily basis. It helped me track food I was eating and I learned about nutritional content. Then she put me on a 2000 calorie per day diet. Over time I reduced the calories to 1800, 1600, and eventually 1400 per day. A month later I started a cardio program, starting at 20 minutes per day on the recumbent bike. I eventually got to 45 minutes 4-5 times per week. Over a four month period I lost 42 pounds before surgery. I had the time to do this before surgery because of insurance requirements.
