deaddemmama 474 Posted December 29, 2013 I had my gastric bypass just over a week ago and I am struggling to sleep for more than. 2 hours at a time before waking up for 2-3 hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions? I have the same exact symptoms! The doctors have chalked it up to my sleep meds not being absorbed correctly. I already had a sleep disorder, but this is ridiculous. I'm going to research this.
deaddemmama 474 Posted December 29, 2013 Several studies have found this to possibly be caused by mineral deficiency...going to call for a check up on Monday.

Birthsjourney 146 Posted December 29, 2013 I didn't sleep well until about a month out from by pass.. My surgeon just says it is pretty normal and it will get better.. He was AGAIN right!
deaddemmama 474 Posted December 29, 2013 Unfortunately, I'm 8 months out...no improvement, yet, but I'll keep hoping.
I'm losing it! 19 Posted December 29, 2013 I had my gastric bypass just over a week ago and I am struggling to sleep for more than. 2 hours at a time before waking up for 2-3 hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions? I am 12 days post op. I have done pretty good sleeping. On some night in the first week I was uncomfortable for too many hours in bed, so I moved to my recliner. I slept pretty good in the upright, relcined position. I have also taken two Tylonel PM pills at night about an hour before bed, to get sleepy, so I was ready for bed and sleep when I hit the sheets. I am sleeping better and better each night as I continue to heal. 1 elizH reacted to this
oldoneyoungagain 200 Posted December 29, 2013 I was allowed to go back on my ambien right after surgery. Before surgery it would take anywhere from 1 hour to 2 hours before I would go to sleep. Now I take it and have to go to bed immediately. The minute I lay down I'm gone. Never had this medication work this fast except when I first started taking it years ago. elizH 8 Posted December 30, 2013 Thank you. It means so much to me knowing that their is a community of people so willing to help. It is frustrating to feel tired and restless at the same time. I appreciate the advice though. I will trust in the healing process for now. I see my doctor for my first post op appointment in a few days and will discuss it with him too. Thank you! ajustice 484 Posted December 31, 2013 My Dr suggested Benadryl. I've battled insomnia for awhile and post op it's became worse.
