How do you know youre full?

Recommended Posts

I'm really concentrating on my eating, but still can't really tell when I'm full. I'm 11 days out and still on thin liquids. I know it's critical for me to know when enough is enough, but with the liquids I'm doing as I've always done - when it's gone I'm full. Looking forward to hear your experience…

Hiccups are a warning sign for me. You might feel urpy (some of the liquids may come up again slightly.) Some people get a runny nose.

In general, you will be able to drink more than you will be able to eat once you get to solids. My first couple of weeks I had to learn the idea that just because it was a serving, didn't mean I had to eat the whole thing.

I start coughing and sometimes get hiccups. If I pass the line..I regurgitate.. That does not necessarily mean I ate too much., but that my stomach did not handle the food well. I am 18 days post op and cannot do much soft foods. Mostly puréed for me now.

Hiccups are my soft stop. I, too, was concerned about what full should feel like. To me, it feels like pressure in my chest. It is different than what full felt like pre-op. I can tell you there is no question or doubt once you're on dense Protein.< /p>

Staying hydrated while recovering is really important! You can't overdo it on the liquids. Make sure you are meeting the daily liquid requirements set out by your doctor and/or nutritionist. You feel begin to feel the restriction when you get to puree and soft foods.

I get a weird tight feeling across my chest. When that feeling hits, it's like "red alert! Don't eat one more bite!"

I noticed it as soon as I started pureed

I am wondering this same thing. I'm 12 days out and have been steadily able to drink more food. I used to be only able to get 4 oz of a Protein Shake or thin Soup down but now it's more like 8oz. I concerned that I'm stretching out my pouch or doing something I shouldn't. I stop when I get that still in the esophagus feeling but my stomach doesn't really give me any indicators. I'm on liquids for 9 more days!!
