ladyd728 106 Posted December 29, 2013 (edited) I was sleeved on the 17 of Dec. I started staged 3 today (pureed) foods. I'm only able to eat 2 or 3 bites, then I'm full. What I'm confused about is, as the weeks go by is my new stomach going to get bigger where can take in more or will it always be this way? What are the different stages here? I go back to work on the 14 of January and I'm just wondering how will I prepare my lunches. Also, I ate the same thing all day, until I finished it. Is that normal or okay to do? Sherry73 94 Posted December 29, 2013 I'm 8 weeks out and was the same way. As the swelling goes down in your stomach you will be able to get more in. It just takes time. 1 princesstami reacted to this
MIJourney 490 Posted December 29, 2013 I went back to work 2 weeks after surgery and brought a tiny Rubbermaid container with 1/4 c cottage cheese in it. A lemon greek yogurt, etc...The yogurt took me a couple of hours to finish. Just a small spoonful at a time. 1 princesstami reacted to this
mistysj 1,940 Posted December 29, 2013 It seems like it gets bigger because the swelling goes down. Right after surgery there is basically no room in there because of the swelling. By 6 weeks most of the swelling is down and then the stomach "relaxes" over the next 6 months or so until it can hold between half a cup and a full cup, depending on your individual anatomy. None of this is the stomach stretching and it is normal and expected.
account closed 20 Posted December 29, 2013 Remember your stomach has just been through major surgery... there's some major swelling going on! You will definitely be able to eat more as time goes on and the swelling goes down. I am 3 weeks post op and can have 1/2 cup of Soup.
