Hey folks, I am 1 week out and I'm having trouble sleeping. I go lay down no later that 10pm but can't fall asleep. The other night I was up until around 2am and last night I was up until 4am. I don't really know what to do about it. Any suggestions?

I was sleeved on 12/23 and having the same issue. I researched it last night.

Some suggestions:

Drink/eat small amount of Protein before bed

Melatonin (I normally take this as needed)

Don't exercise too late

Magnesium/d3 at bedtime

And it takes a month or two to get your body recovered and sleeping well.

I was sleeved 12/19. I'm having the same issue. Night before last, I couldn't fall asleep until 7AM and couldn't take a nap during the day. I finally fell asleep around 3AM this morning and slept until 8:30am. The days before that since surgery, I would sleep an hour or 2 at a time throughout the day. I just assume it is part of the process and will work itself out. Having most of a major organ ripped out of your body, then eating/drinking very little is pretty traumatic. I cope with it by just relaxing and listening to the Game of Thrones audio books. Takes my mind off the discomfort and pain while passing the time nicely.

I had surgery on the 19th also. This just started a couple days ago for me. I try to take naps when my son does but I usually can't go to sleep then either. :(

Me too! I was sleeved on the 19th as well and before surgery I could sleep for 12 hours straight. Now I'm waking up in the middle of the night watching whole movies. Never had insomnia before, but it seems to be the case now.

I was sleeved September 6th of this year and I have had issues with insomnia also. Prior to my surgery I was having such awful sleep apnea and I was exhausted all the time now I no longer have sleep apnea and I have trouble sleeping. What a mess to be in.

I found that upping my exercise helped a lot, but it wasn't sufficient. Finally, I asked my doctor for a sleep aid while my body adjusts to so many new routines.

So, I'm taking Lunesta and it's great. Getting 8-9 solid hours. It's not as crazy as ambien, so there's not sleep walking or eating like ambien.

I took the Melatonin last night. Slept from 10-5:30. Thank goodness!

I was also sleeved on the 19th. I have been doing same thing- staying awake till all hours of the night, including one 4am. However, last night I went to sleep fairly early and slept till my alarm when off at 7:15. The past two days I have been very busy, was on my feet most all day yesterday decorating then hosting a bday party. I believe the increased "exercise" helped me to sleep better last night.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
