Do we stop ptotein when we eat?

Recommended Posts

If you mean stop the Protein shakes when we start food...that's up to if you meet your Protein goals with just food.

It takes most of us many months to be able to get enough food to hit our protein goals without the shakes.

I'm 10 weeks post op and don't usually hit mine without shakes. It's just so much constant eating if I had to cut out my shakes.

I asked this same question and found many vets were still drinking one at a year out. CLK said she did that because it gave her more flexibility in the rest of her food choices. We are almost 5 months out and still do 2 a day, one for Breakfast and one last thing at night, which sometimes we substitute a Protein pudding for, but same idea. It works for us.

My surgeon told me he sees the best ling term results in patients that continue to have one Protein supplement a day through the first year.

I agree with the above, I'm 9 months post and at 6'1 and working out about 5 days a week I need about 100g per day, with the restrictions we have it's really quite hard for me to get that much in without incorporating a Protein supplement here-and-there.

Ooo, I love hearing this seela! There are 5 nuts in my program so I never see the same one. None of them want us on shakes past a certain point and I know this.

But I just can't get all the food in some days. It's just too tough. Then other days like yesterday, I feel like I had the never full evil sleeve. I also do better when I start my day on a shake. Nor sure why.

My observation is that while it is possible to get the Protein in through food, there's almost nothing better protein-wise than a Premier Protein shake. If I have one of those, the other two "main" meals can be less than perfect Protein choices, or be a little more carb heavy.

I probably have one at least 5 days a week. I find it helpful. I also am trying to hit at least 80 grams of protein a day, which may be why I find this to be easier this way.

I've just spent three days eating filet mignon/beef tenderloin leftovers; those were plenty high in protein too.
