Bariatric clear liquid

Recommended Posts

Sleeved Dec 24

On the 25th in the hospital I was able to hold 40oz Water

26th was 76 oz total for the day

27th (today) I have had 106oz liquids - managed 80g of Protein today too (isopure)

In seeing all the with people having serious problems getting 30oz of liquid in should I be concerned and call the Dr office?

It seems too easy right now. Just curious some of your thoughts.

No pain? No bloating? No vomiting?

I had problems getting enough fluids the 1st three days (too bloated) but by day 4 I felt tons better and I've gotten everything in days 5,6 and 7. Went in to work today. Be grateful we are one of the lucky ones!

I had the same "problem." Everyone on here said not to stress. I did anyway.

Called my NP and surgeon. Both said that I should count my blessings that I can get in a lot of liquids. The size of your stomach will become more clear with purees and apparently even more so on solids. Most people are dehydrated now. Drink up and eat slowly. You're in a good spot!

I'd call your doctor anyway just for peace of mind.

You are doing great! Not all of us had all the drama post op with not getting in our liquids...

I spent my day drinking in the beginning but I got my liquids in.

Now I can chug like a sailor :P

I was also able to get my liquids in from the beginning. Count it as a blessing.

I was sleeved on the 23rd and have been surprised at how smooth this has gone. I was off pain meds day two. I have been able to get in my Protein and about 64 ounces of Fluid, which is what is recommended to me right now. After hearing some of the stories on this forum, I do consider myself lucky

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
