Pain from muscle

Recommended Posts

Hello..I am 66, and still struggleing with the pain from the muscle they cut through during surgery. It got much better until Christmas Eve. Then I foolishly went shopping and brought, and carried all packages up the porch steps into my home..about 3/4 trips...Then it all started all over again. That nagging pain from the muscle again...and I thought it was almost completely healed. Has anyone else suffered this long with this muscle? I realize not everyone has felt it, but for some reason, it is and has been horrible for me. Better today, but now I'm afraid to do anything...don't want it hurting badly again...Anyone?

I would just take some pain meds, sit down in a comfy chair, put your feet up and read or watch TV and nap. Let someone else do everything until your muscle pain goes away.

Maybe try following the rules rather than just doing what you want? You did this to yourself. All I can do is nod my head and agree this was a stupid move (like Forrest Gump - stupid is as stupid does). Sit on your duff and rest! You need to allow your body to heal. I at the moment would love to do more and run around the town....I feel good. My body needs more time to heal. If you want smooth sailing follow the rules. If you want complication keep on doing your program instead of your Doctors. just don't blame the Doctors or the surgery/diet for your choices.

So wonderful for you to have it all figured out! I bow down to your superiority and perfectionism. As for the rest of us stupid people with lives to live... just before the stitches break (normal) that muscle starts hurting bad again for a couple of days. Then all of a sudden it'll be gone. Get some rest and remember not to over do it. You'll be fine :)

My dr sent me back to work after 4 weeks. I work on a manufacturing floor and pulled a muscle by overworking. I ended up off work for another week. Take it easy. We only have one body to live in for years. You're worth it.

Gran, I'm 56, had gastric bypass surgery on December 2nd. Monday will be the four week mark for us. I too had pain at the incision and muscle area, from the beginning. I did a lot of walking while in the hospital, as directed, I rested when I got home and have been taking it easy since surgery. I still had pain which required that I take pain medication prescribed by my surgeon. When I met with him ten days post-op I explained the pain and he said it was not abnormal, everyone heals at their own pace. Finally at the three week post-op point the pain subsided. I followed doctors orders and still had issues. It could be our "mature" age or just that our bodies do not heal like a 30 year old body. Your body may just be telling you to allow it to heal before resuming your normal lifestyle. I had to be reminded several times that the procedure was major surgery and our body takes time to heal properly. Take advantage of laying low until you feel better, one morning you'll wake up to discover that the pain is gone and be glad you pampered yourself a bit.
