I'm getting sleeved after the new year and am interested in what an average post op menu looks like (after one has graduated to solid foods).

This is what I ate yesterday (I'm nearly 7 months out):

Breakfast: Protein shake, 30g

Lunch: egg w/ cheese and a laughing cow wedge mushed in, 12.5g

Snack: nearly 1/2 an apple with Peanut Butter, 7g

Dinner: chicken and Beans w/ sour cream, 27g

Snack: Protein Bar with a 2nd workout, 21g

* I try not to do 2 Protein supplements in a day, but I've stepped up my workouts quite a bit because of the holidays.

I didn't record Christmas Day, so here's the day before:

diced peaches and a Babybel , 5g

Steak and spinach, 21g

Beef Jerky and cashews, 9.5g

tuna and green Beans, 23g

Quest bar, 21g

Ummm it varies day to day but...

Today:

coffee

2 eggs with a little cheese, 2 sausage links

Half of a small lasagna (250 calories worth about)

And for dinner I'll probably have a piece of chicken and some veggies.

Tons of Water

Oh and don't judge me... earlier I had about 10 Funyuns and they we're delicious.

This is an average - seeing as we're right in the middle of Christmas and all rules go out of the window.

Breakfast - Protein shake or Protein Bar - both 20gs of Protein, so all good.

Failing that - an egg and perhaps a sausage and cooked Tomato and perhaps some baked Beans or mushrooms

lunch - Small tortilla, deli ham/chicken/sweetcorn, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, smearing of salad cream. Cut in half, eat in two goes.

dinner - Roasted meat (chicken drumstick/lamb chop), half a very small jacket potato, mixed salad, smearing of salad cream.

Snacks - pot of yoghurt, nuts, dried cranberries - that sort of thing.

I'm finishing off the beef tenderloin we made for Christmas, so today my two meals thus far have been:

1 wasa crisp

3 oz filet mignon

1 tablespoon of cheese

For breakfast I either have a Premier Protein shake or a couple of eggs.

Last night I had 3-4 oz of calamari.

My Snacks are either a Protein pudding or a slice of meat.

I have to work on getting more vegetables and Fiber in. It's my next goal. Usually after I have my protein I don't really want anything else.

Breakfast- Protein shake

Snack- 3 mango slices and a light cheese stick

Lunch- laughing cow cheese, half a serving of crackers (whole grain) and sliced deli meat

Snack- small handful of almonds (about 9)

snack - beef Jerky (I was fighting some strong chocolate cravings)

Dinner- chicken sausage and a little bit of Pasta

This is an average day for me I mix the Snacks and lunches up. Also for dinner I like to make chicken or fish or some type of salad loaded with Protein.

I also normally snack on popcorn or a protein bar at night. I'm 7 months post op.

I'm 6 weeks post-op and transitioned to soft foods 3 weeks post-op. I've had very good luck with food, so I was cleared to eat what I could tolerate more quickly than other patients my surgeon has. Here's what I had yesterday, which is very typical for me:

Breakfast: 2 ounces Cherry Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt and 1 light string cheese.

Lunch: 2 oz. of a Ranch flavored Starkist tuna Creations pouch; 1 light string cheese; 1 ounce pears in Water.

PM Snack: One Premier Protein shake (30g)

Dinner: 2 oz. grilled turkey breast tenderloin marinated in 2 Tbsp. Fat Free Zesty Italian dressing, 1 ounce peas.

I also drank 64 ounces of Water during the day. It worked out to 531 calories and 84 grams of Protein for the day. I am usually between 550 and 600 calories. My nutritionist is very happy with my food journal since surgery. Down 40 pounds in 6 weeks as of today.

Good luck to you in the new year!

5pm-2 oz fage mixed with other half Syntrax packet & 1 oz dark chicken meat or baked tilapia

8pm-if I'm hungry I will snack on less than an ounce of beef Jerky around this time.

Here is a day for me:

Breakfast:1 egg fried in a little butter, maybe a piece of sausage also

Protein shake (sometimes not the whole thing)

Lunch: I like cheese and crackers and some deli meat or a Soup is good. Small amt only

Snack-few crackers or a half of a peach in light Syrup

Dinner-small portion of meat-chix I tolerate well or a half of a medium sweet pot (yum), or some Pasta with meat. No more than a ramekin of food.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
