Ree 215 Posted December 27, 2013 So today I was cleared to move on to puree foods and really soft foods like cottage cheese and eggs. I was eating and when I swallow it feels like the food doesn't go all the way down. Like it's stuck in my throat or something. It doesn't hurt but it's annoying. I feel like I have to keep swallowing for it to go down. Is this normal? will it eventually pass?
VSG AJH 499 Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) I know others will chime in here, but if you know you're eating slow enough and chewing well, this is something I would run by my doc. It absolutely could be nothing, or still just some post-op swelling, but it could also be a stricture. I think your doc is best qualified to answer this question. ribearty 544 Posted December 27, 2013 Make sure you are chewing everything to the consistency of toothpaste. You may still have some swelling which is causing the problem. I would definitely contact my doctor's office to let them know.
Carlotta1 401 Posted December 27, 2013 I should be on soft foods.. However, purée is what I can have at this moment.. Otherwise I find myself throwing up the food I just ate cause it gets stuck in my throat. Guess everyone is different for the different stages.
ribearty 544 Posted December 27, 2013 Sometimes a food does not agree with you the first time you try it, and then have it a week later with no problem at all.
Ree 215 Posted December 27, 2013 I never actually got sick. I didn't know there was swelling in my throat as well as my stomach. It feels like it's in my throat so I have to keep swallowing. So does that annoyance eventually go away?
moonlitestarbrite 902 Posted December 29, 2013 yes, it goes away. i felt this way for along time several months. had a lot of extra swelling. there was lot of scar tissue on my stomach my doc had to remove during surgery. acupuncture and lots of green tea helped me heal. now when the feeling comes back i know its gas. hang in there, healing happens in stages. it does get better.
