healthbound1 69 Posted December 27, 2013 I'm a bit concerned because I almost pass out everytime I get up from sitting. It also happens when I bend down and get up. I have had this in the past but only on occassion. It has been happening consistently over the past few days. Can anyone shed some light on what may be happening? I was sleeved on Dec.4th so am not quit a month out. Thanks.

Jdub 109 Posted December 27, 2013 Are you on BP meds? Have you had your blood pressure checked?
Sassy Pants1 186 Posted December 27, 2013 Too few calories? Too little Water? Low blood pressure?
healthbound1 69 Posted December 27, 2013 No, I'm not on bp meds. But when I checked it at the pharmacy it was 119/70 and then 2 days later was 117/67.

mistysj 1,940 Posted December 27, 2013 Low blood sugar? If it was that, it wouldn't be only when standing and it would likely be showing up in other ways such as general disorientation or irritability or lack of concentration. Much more likely low blood pressure due to lack of sodium in the diet and possibly low fluids too. Probably it will normalize with time.
healthbound1 69 Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) Just checked blood sugar, it is at 5.8 mmol/L. What qualifies as low blood pressure? I just ate some pureed Bean with Bacon Soup (an hour ago) and am now drinking Powerade. I think it is probably not enough liquids or sodium. I've had low Iron and low potassium in the past. I stopped tracking my food and fluids over the past few days but just started writing everything down again this morning. Man, doesn't take long to get off track. Low blood sugar is below 3 mmol/l. 5.8 is great if you are diabetic or have eaten recently, a tiny bit high if you aren't and you haven't eaten within two hours. healthbound1 69 Posted December 27, 2013 I believe I am pre-diabetic. So, I am going to assume it is a bit of dehydration and low electrolites. I'll try to increase fluids and salt to see if that helps by tomorrow. If not, I'll go get some blood work done to see what's going on. Thanks for the quick replies everyone!!!! 1 Scorpion11 reacted to this
