Yum!

I had tilipia over the weekend with a baked potato and a little sour cream to make the potato mushier.

Delicious.

Hi all-

I just wanted to introduce myself. I probably need to lose 1/2 of my body weight and am thinking about the lap band. (Roux-en-y sounds too scary for me.) I'm so thrilled that I found this Georgian thread!

I'm in East Cobb/Marietta and really appreciate the doctor/facility information.

Hope everyone is well and has a great week!

Yep, I am back in Georgia. The flight was fine in and of itself but I got a little nauseous; luckily I had the anti-nausea tablets that dissolved under my tongue, so I was fine.

Hi Sick N Tired,

I was banded by Dr. Johnson with Atlanta Bariatrics. He practices out of Emory Johns Creek.

The hospital & office are excellent. I really like the whole staff.

Good luck, and take the 1st step - check it out (go to a seminar).

Thanks!

Ok. Girls I need your help. Here I am one week away from meeting with my surgeon Dr. Lin at Emory. I get a call today from his office saying that he will not be doing bands for awhile. :confused:Now they want to switch me to some new lady Jahnavi Srinivasan. She just recently finished her fellowship under Dr. Lin. I just don't trust anyone new. :)

Can you guys recommend a surgeon at Emory. I am in dire need of finding a great experienced surgeon.:confused2:

I would recommend my Dr., Scott Davis. He is at the same office as Dr. Lin. He is very knowledgeable and did an excellent job. He looks rather young but has experience and has been teaching others because he always has someone coming in with him to watch and learn when I go in for my fills, and had interns watching during the surgery.

Although Dr Lin did my surgery, My initial visit was with Dr. Davis and he came highly recommended. Dr. Lin was awesome but Dr Davis would be my next choice at Emory.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
