Anyone from Georgia ??

Hey Bensdad, YES, I can tell a difference from my first fill. Where before the fill I was eating about half of my usual amount. Since the fill I am eating around 2 cups (maybe slightly more), but not near as much as I was eating. Yesterday at lunch, I ate too fast and filled up afterwards. I felt like a stuffed turkey and was very uncomfortable all evening. Today at lunch, I felt like I was still wanting to eat more, but I stopped myself and waited. That helped. I am feeling full now and threw out the rest of my leftovers. Do NOT want a repeat of yesterday!

And, I LOVE MY DR. My next fill visit was scheduled for 1/31/08. The office called to say that Dr. Davis had a seminar but they could reschedule me for 1/24. A week EARLIER (not later!!!). I'm not sure that I will need a big fill next time. I know that I'm not the norm. Most people that I've read about need two or three fills before they can feel restriction. I definitely have restriction. I can feel a lump in my lower throat / upper chest when I swallow, (especially if I don't take small bites) and I get the hiccups when I try to eat too fast and sometimes when I get full. I'm learning the limitations. It hasn't even been a week though, and I don't know how much settling my stomach will do and therefore how much more of a fill I will need on the 24th.

But, I know I'm supposed to be eating 1 cup, and can eat 2 right now. So, I'm sure I'll need more fill, but not sure I need a big one. I'll ask Dr. Davis what he planned on giving and then tell him how I'm feeling.

But, as I said, I am SO glad to have him as my dr. He's very nice, very smart, and is very encouraging.

Also, anyone interested in a free trial gym membership? The National Body Challenge by discovery health network has an 8 week body challenge. You get a trial membership good from Jan. 5 - March 2. I signed up last year and decided to buy a membership. I haven't gone as much as I should. And, they are limited on Bally's locations, but if you are anywhere near one, it's fun to have the free membership. My daughter got the free membership with me last year but did not sign up after the 8 weeks. She called me today and asked me to go online and sign her up, she's been gaining weight. So I signed her up today. Just thought it might help someone who might not know about it.

If anyone tries to sign up for the free gym membership, there is some sort of conflict with the webpage and internet explorer. If you use mozilla firefox it will load up correctly.

Hi to hopefulgirl from someone else on the Westside -- I work at West Georgia.

If this has not been answered yet, yes it is typical to require two more more co-morbidities if your BMI is under 40.

WOW...I graduated from West Ga in 2006. I hope everything is going well for you.

Hey everybody,

I'm a newbie and started researching lap-band about a month ago. I have several seminars and appointments scheduled for the next few weeks. Can you give me any tips on what to expect or your opinions of the various doctors/clinics? I'll be self-pay, by the way.

  • Next week, seminar at Atlanta Bariatric Center at Johns Creek.
  • In two weeks, appointment with Dr. Champion in Marietta.
  • 21/2 weeks, seminar in Albany, GA at Palmyra Medical Center.

I'm so excited that I found out about this possibility for weight loss! For the first time I feel like there's actually hope!

In two weeks, appointment with Dr. Champion in Marietta.

I was also considering Dr. Champion but I couldn't find anyone on here who had used him or could provide any info on him.

PLEASE let me know how your experience with him goes. I am still considering him, as well as, Dr. Lin at Emory. I would love to know your opinion of him, his staff, location, EVERYTHING.

Hi hopefulgirl,

I just found out about Dr. Champion yesterday from a friend of mine who's being banded next week. She said she had done all of her pre-op testing, etc. at Emory, but was dissatified with their follow-up and lack of a "personal" touch. Dr. Champion was referred to her, and she loves everything about the office staff and doctor. They remember who she is every time and return calls/emails very quickly.

I filled out the preliminary paperwork for Dr. Champion and faxed it in today. His office called me within an hour and booked my appointment to see the doctor. The staff person was very sweet and personable, definitely a Southern charm kinda thing. ("Sure thing, hon...") It made me feel like they care. I am also impressed by his experience that I read about on his site.

I'll let you know how it goes after my appt. in a couple weeks. Please tell me your impressions of the doctors you've been researching, too. The more information any of us have, the better.

I went to a seminar with Dr. Freeman in Anniston, AL today and have actually scheduled my surgery! :biggrin1:

Tentatively set for January 28th...as long as I can get clearance for the time off from work. :ranger:

Oh and holla to all the UWG folks. I did not go to that school but I grew up in Carrollton. In high school we called West Georgia '13th grade.'

OK, I have to defend West Georgia and say that it used to be like "13th grade"...I grew up in Gwinnett County and I recall people making fun of UWG when it was just West Georgia College. But since it's now a Ph.D-granting, full-fledged university, I think it's come a long way. :)

I graduated in 2004 and came back to work here this year (I can go to graduate school for free as an employee). Things are good. I hope things go well for you too!

I wanted to say hi to another Dr. K patient in Georgia. Do you go back for fills from him?

Hi, V! Yes, my first fill will be 2/1. I really feel confident with him, and fortunately we have lots of Skymiles so the flight's not too expensive. Looking forward to that fill!:)

Sounds good. I figure it won't be much more expensive to go back to him for fills and if something goes wrong, he will fix it. I may not be able to say the same for a different surgeon or a fill center. I hope you can post about your fill when you get it. :)

Ha Ha. Yeah it was still West Georgia College when I graduated in 94. I think it's a great school, but after you live in C-town for 18 years you are ready to get out!

Watch out for my brother, he's a cop in Carrollton.

Hello Georgia Banders,

I have a friend that lives in Flowery Branch. This is all new to him and he would like to be referred to a good surgeon in his area. I'm in CT so can you please help me out.

Thanks, Chris

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
