I feel like I'm ready. I've been reading the forum and feel like I have a good idea of what to expect. I bought a heating pad and gas-x strips. I even have 2 quarts of won ton broth in the fridge. So why am I so nervous? This is the second surgery I've ever had. The first was a tubaligation (sp?), so not a big deal. I guess if the EKG or blood work came back saying I wouldn't survive the anesthesia, they would have let me know. I am just nervous. About both the surgery and the first week after. I just want to wake up and be feeling good and in the mushy stage.< /p>

Best wishes! The lapband was my 3rd major surgery. I think it was probably the easiest, as I was most prepared. the other 2 surgeries were almost emergencies, so no preperation for either of them. With your mind and body ready, you will do great.

You will be starting the New Year with a new you coming on! Woohoo! Keep us informed of your progress. Karen..aka.kll724

Hope you are doing well. I had surgery yesterday and came home today. The best advice I have read here is walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip! Good luck!!!

Hey guys! Thank you so much for the words of encouragement. I made it to the other side! Whew, it is painful over here. LOL

Doing my walking and sipping and I do feel better this morning than I did yesterday when I got home. Yesterday pain was in my back and chest, air I assume. Today I still have that pain but it is lessened and I actually have pain in my stomach. Like when you are super hungry. I can hear my stomach gurgling and I have hiccupped twice. Ouch! I hope this stage goes away soon!

Oh, and I have no voice!

Hi Misty!

I just came across your post. I'm new to the site so I'm just looking around, trying to get into the forums. Your story seems a little bit like mine! I started my journey with a seminar in November and my insurance company had no waiting period either so I'm just trying to get my surgery date now. It's exciting to think that I could be where you are now in just a few short months!! Glad your surgery went well, best wishes for a speedy recovery :)

Hi Misty! I was banded on the 26th and today I woke up with minimal pain. It is amazing to me how much better I feel each day. All I have been doing is laying on the couch or in bed and sipping Water every 5 minutes. About every hour or two, I get up and walk around the house. I am trying to follow the doctor's orders to the letter for a quick and easy recovery. Good luck!!

healing everyday and feeling a tad better I hope. It takes time and a bit of getting used to. Soon the liquids will start tasting good to you. Add some spices to the clear broth for additional flavors.

Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
