I was banded this morning and doing well. The doctor requires an overnight stay. I have walked a few times and am allowed 1oz of ice chips every hour. Hoping for good things ahead!

Congrats to being on the banded side! I also had an overnight stay. So glad I did! Get up and get walking as soon as you can. Best wishes.

My insurance required an overnight stay! I was glad! I live an hour away and did not want the ride immediately after surgery. But, also, did not want to be home where even tho' people want to be helpful, you end up having to do more htna you should have to! Congratulations, and best wishes for a great recovery. Happy New Year! Karen..aka.kll724

I was outpatient and live almost two hours from the surgery center. I just requested an extra bump of pain meds right before I left and my husband was as careful as he could to give me as smooth a ride as possible and it wasn't bad. I was happy to go home, right away, settle into my recliner and fully relax. I am glad that my insurance goes for immediate discharge as long as you are stable. I far prefer to recover in the comfort, quiet and privacy of my own home. :)

I was banded on the 26th too. How are you doing? I went straight home. My husband got me up every hour and made me walk around the house. He made me use my incentive spirometer and gave me pain meds around the clock for the first 24 hours. And I'm the nurse!!! I hated him and loved him for it!! Lol!!! I just wanted to curl up and sleep!

@Sengelken- Sounds like you have a great hubby!! My recovery has been going great!! Took Tylenol Friday and Saturday pretty faithfully, and then only twice on Sunday. I have random pain in my left shoulder, but it is just slightly uncomfortable. I feel really lucky to be doing so well. I get up every hour or 2 and walk around inside the house for about 5 minutes and then rest on the couch. I'm almost caught up with everything on my DVR!(LOL). Hope you are recovering well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
