ChristyC90 22 Posted December 26, 2013 So before I had surgery I was never really self conscious about my weight at 240, ive never jad negative feedback from weight so it didnt bother me, now that im 173lbs im getting a lot more attention, positive attention and its driving me crazy, ive never liked attention to be on me, and now everytime I see someone I know they say how different and good I look, as if I looked horrible before, I know thats not what they mean but still plays on my mind, I didnt get this surgery to look good I got it to be healthy fir myself and my family, its true when they say after surgery it takes a lot of mental strength 1 Courtnaeyy reacted to this
kata13 56 Posted December 29, 2013 So many people focus on size and not health. The only thing is to remind why you got it done or quickly change the subject. 1 ChristyC90 reacted to this
erikaloftin 62 Posted December 29, 2013 I'm not great at accepting compliments either. Just smile and thank them. I usually do that and say, Thank you, I FEEL great. That usually gets them off the looks and onto how I feel. 1 ChristyC90 reacted to this
terry1118 1,274 Posted December 31, 2013 I've come up with a standard reply for my customers who are noticing and commenting on my weight loss more and more each day. I just smile and say "Thank you for noticing! How can I help you?". Acknowledge and turn attention back to them - that's my strategy. It's working so far. :-) 2 ChristyC90 and *Misty*Raine* reacted to this
waddapane 19 Posted December 31, 2013 How about the ones that say you don't need to lose any more weight or you will be too skinny? I know they mean well, but I want a healthy bmi. Health was my whole reason for having wls! 2 melhealthy and ChristyC90 reacted to this
ChristyC90 22 Posted January 1, 2014 How about the ones that say you don't need to lose any more weight or you will be too skinny? I know they mean well, but I want a healthy bmi. Health was my whole reason for having wls! Exactly! And at 171 I am no where near a healthy bmi
waddapane 19 Posted January 2, 2014 I am also around 170# & 5'5". I have been exercising and doing weights for almost a year. I think that makes me look smaller. It still doesn't put my bmi in a normal range.
