Stacy_wls 135 Posted December 26, 2013 I'm 14 days out and my skin all over is wicked dry. Like I scratch it and get a rash it. Is so dry. This everywhere, legs, arms etc. is this from my nutrients change? Has anyone else experienced this post op? Did you find a solution? Thanks!
JeanZ_RN 378 Posted December 26, 2013 Mine is not as bad as you describe, but I've definitely noticed a change. I attribute it to the lack of fat in my diet. The remedy I'm trying is Jojoba oil, recommended by my massage therapist. I apply it to my arms, hands, lower legs and feet every day or two. Best time to apply it is just after a shower, when skin is still damp. I purchased the oil at Whole Foods market, and it's not cheap - $34 for a 9-10 oz bottle (I'm not sure how many oz it is). I just Googled jojoba oil (pronouced hoHOba), and found one site that offers a 16 oz bottle for $21, so if it works as well as I think it's going to I'll be purchasing online from now on. My masseuse said that other oils that are also good are almond oil and coconut oil - and those are less expensive.

I use either Skin so soft in my bath Water (Avon) and it helped tremendously. I also use the neutrogena rain bath sesame oil stuff. Both work really well. My skin gets really dry in the fall and winter so I have to find something to use. Good luck!! 1 notmeanymore reacted to this

notmeanymore 629 Posted December 26, 2013 I used to use the seseme oil religiously. I found that I went thru it so fast and because it was on the expensive side I tried coconut oil and never turned back. I'm 14 days out and my skin all over is wicked dry. Bombs 353 Posted December 27, 2013 Shower brush with moisturizing body wash. Then Palmers cocoa butter gel oil. Don't dry off. Right onto wet skin after I turn the Water off and then right into a robe. The softest I have ever been and I have psoriasis (Which is disappearing)
cobear18 14 Posted December 27, 2020 I have the same problem! I'm loving my bath and body works shea body cream lotion. Finally getting tons of use out of my lotions, but this kind I only have to apply once a day. Sent from my SM-G988U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
GradyCat 3,695 Posted December 27, 2020 Not that I've noticed, my skin hasn't been any more or less dry than pre-op. I'm really bad about not applying lotion to my body as I can never seem to adopt the habit. I finally at age 52 or so started using facial moisturizer once or twice a day but for some reason I can't seem to find the time or motivation to lotion elbows, knees, feet, etc.
