I know it's crazy my family tells me I must be sick because I used to freeze everyone . Does anyone have trouble eating ground meat, steak, pirk chops?

I can't eat any pork, beef, ground turkey sausage.....makes me pretty sick.

How long has it been since you had your sleeve, I had mine July 29,13. Whats crazy is I can eat bacon, sausage, ham, chicken, and turkey, also boudan sausage. Go figure.

I'm only five weeks out, November 20. I can't eat anything with tomatoes or a Tomato base either. I had issues with tomatoes when I had chemo too. I had some turkey bacon (well, a slice) a few days ago and it went down fine. I've always been funky with what I could and couldn't eat....it amazed people that I was fat!

Ah, to be so early out. The innocence. ;) I also don't care what anyone else eats. Doesn't affect me one single bit. I just don't get fired up inside when others go off their plans. But I'm a year out and I have no problem knocking back a crapload of Doritos if I were to decide to do so. I've far exceeded my goals, and highly doubt I would have done so well if I had started cheating at two months out especially on sugar. You'll later learn why one cookie now is really so much more.

This thread has certainly meandered all over the place.

What scares me the most is when people eat foods too soon before they are healed and try to push the limits of the sleeve. It really makes me wonder why they would even be willing to take the risk of jeopardizing their surgery or themselves.

The most important thing you can do for yourself to be successful is follow the plan your doctor and nutritionist have laid out for you.

I've eaten a bit of ground meat, but no steak or pork chops. Even with ground meat I get that misrable feeling after a bite or two.

I'm a little over two months out now.

I am 9 weeks out and can eat just about anything I used to eat. Probably shouldn't but I do.

I exercise every day, eat about 1/4 of what I used to, and things are going ok.

Dropping about a 1-2 lbs a week. Probably could be doing it faster, but losing during the holidays is tougher, with all the baked goods at work, and the Snacks out all day long. Going to try harder in the new year, but I doubt I will ever live bread free etc... as some on here are doing.

I am down 150 lbs and have found that I need to enjoy life and stop worrying about eating if you want a snack than have one and don't beat your self up. I will add some drama Romeo and Juliett or you've got mail how about message in a bottle

I hope everyone knows what there doing , everyone different , why anyone would put there self threw surgery ,they go back to bad habits. Watch your self , I know a few people who gain all there weight back and some! Cookie here cake next , wish everyone a great healthy new year!

I used to be the biggest sweater before VSG --- pouring bullets out of the shower and 10 minutes into spin class .... Will be interesting to find out how much I'm able to sweat when I start spinning again

Being 18 months out, I can say that the sleeve will always serve you well if you eat nutritionally dense foods (from both Protein and veggie food groups), but will almost certainly fail you on slider foods. It is wise to develop good nutritionally sound eating habits during the first 6 months while you are effectively on " probation" as a new sleeved. Once a certain time period passes, your ability for the sleeve to help you on certain classes of foods (sliders, sugar, salt, fat, etc) goes way down, effectively to 0. And then it becomes a question of how well you built your foundation during the first few months for the house you now live in. There will be storms with hurricane strength winds and your house will only be as sturdy as the foundation you poured. Listen to your nutritionalist, read and educate yourself before your "honeymoon period" ends and what is left to guide you is your decision making process.

I'm only 16 days post op, so eating a cookie sounds awful. I would like a turkey sandwich, though, or something chewy.

I am regretting the surgery at this point. I am cold and tired and depressed. The sleeve is helping me lose---I'm down 5 lb in 16 days, which isn't amazing but it's ok. The problem is that I realized I don't have food issues as much as time management issues (not that I don't like treats, I do). I hate that I can't just quickly grab a taco or a chicken sandwich on the go. Everything has to be cut, chopped, seasoned, heated, thinned, pureed, and then I have to clean all the damn implements, scrub grainy Protein residue away. Then I eat, and it takes half an hour to eat 2 ounces of blended Beans, all the while cooking a different meal for the family. In the meantime, email is going crazy, dogs and kids threatening anarchy, and husband just looks overwhelmed.

Like most working parents on this board, I am going non-stop from 6 am to midnight everyday, longer if kids are sick. What's embarrassing is that despite husband and I having successful careers, we just can't get our act together on the food planning end. I know other people do it--I'm ashamed that I can't.

I'm thinking the sleeve money would have been better spent on some sort of meal-outsourcing service. As it stands, the sleeve is just adding a lot of stress to an overloaded life.

I, too, am 9 weeks out and can eat anything I want. That doesn't mean I pig out on fried foods and chips all day....lol. And, my doctor said as long as I can tolerate without pain then I'm welcome to eat it, but, put Protein first. I've never been a huge bread person so that's not really an issue for me. But, I have had a couple of bites of bread. My doctor must really be an exception. He didn't put me on a super strict diet before surgery and allowed me to start eating Soups on week 2 after. At 4 weeks, he said to start adding foods a little at a time. I've been fine. No problems.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
