Hi all, i was banded on the 20th and last night (25th) i had 1/2 a slice of think lunchen ham. I was in so much pain about 20 minutes after. I have been able to get down all my fluids but it hurts.

We are at staying at theme park, so have been walking around and drinking my Water all day.

Please don't comment to reprimand me, i feel bad enough that i don't need your added judgment.

I am staying to my liquids for another week even though my dr (on day of surgery) said to start soft/mushy food at day 7.

I just want to know will the pain go away in a few days. I am burping like crazy but no PB'ing.

Any kind info would be much appreciated.

you could still have a stuck issue going on. although being able to drink fluids is good. i think i would confess to the doctor so he can give you the best advice. staying on liquids was a good choice. but call your doctor. the pain is really abnormal especially since you said the pain started after you ate.

Just got off the phone with my surgeon and he said it sounds like i have irritated the band opening but as long as i am able to get my fluids down i will be ok until i see him Saturday morning. He was very understanding and kind.

Thanks Terry!

Not sure if you understand why we shouldn't eat solid foods till the doctor clears us? The band is sewn/sutured into place around your stomach. So, this is a time for healing your stomach. Eating solids before you adapt to eating like a Bandster can cause a stuck episode and tear the sutures or exacerbate the surgical area. Also, your pouch and your stomach have to work hard to push the food through and digest it when it still needs to heal.

Maybe you already know this but it bears repeating. You're definitely not the first or last patient to make this mistake and you should be fine once the inflammation declines and yes the pain will go away. I think a lot of patients cheat like this and get away with it because they had very little swelling from the surgery but sounds like you must have had some inflammation that caused the food to stick.

But congrats on your first stuck episode. You'll probably be so much more careful as you progress :)

We all make mistakes. Sorry you are in pain. It was brave of you to admit this to us online. Unfortunately you now learned the hard way that you really do need to follow the rules to make this work. It's a journey that's for sure. Good luck!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
