Can I take it? I'm about 3 1/2 months out. Can't sleep. Need sleep. Miserable. Has anyone taken it after their sleeve?

Not sure about that - has alcohol in it? Try melatonin a couple of milligrams. It's better for you - a natural hormone.

If was approved for me after sleeve because I got a terrible cold. I took it and did fine. That said, you shouldn't get into the habit of taking that stuff to sleep. Its got a lot of other meds in it that you don't need and it just makes things harder on your body while trying to heal.

Agreed, NyQuil is a little overkill for insomnia. Try melatonin and camomile tea before bedtime. If that's not working and you really want to try drugs, you might try Diphenhydramine (Benadryl). They make a children's liquid version. Make sure you are well hydrated, though as this can really dry you out. Or better yet, speak with your PCP or nut for suggestions.

I can't sleep because I have a terrible cold. I would never take something like that just because I couldn't sleep. I had a high fever last night and obviously couldn't call my doctors office. I just need some kind of relief. I can't hardly breath because I'm so stopped up.

I take one Benedryl and one melatonin every night and sleep like a log.

I second melatonin. Son takes it recommended by doc. He's 15. Works like a charm. They have pills or even sublingual

I tried melatonin and it didn't work for me. If you do try it be aware that it makes some people have crazy dreams and nightmares.

My doctor said no Nyquil because it's got too much alcohol. She said I cab have Dayquil to help with my cold. Again, I couldn't sleep because I have a terrible head cold. Just going to sleep as not the issue!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
